Right from the start it became clear what kind of show this is.A basic 'The One Who Will Save Us All' hero takes the centre stage while all women are there for his sexual amusement and all men are there to make him look good. The scifi premise isn't anything new either; there are mutants who have special abilities and, of course, regular humans fear and hunt them. Sound familiar? Introducing a "The One" in 21st century entertainment just kills the story. The concept is done to death and many times better than this show pulls off.Add to this the highly unrealistic behaviour of all people involved and poor understanding of the definition of 'species' and I don't feel like watching any more episodes. That said... I like how they at least TRY to kill the enemy once in a while. Of course they have this plot-device against them and 'can't kill' and they are atmosphere destroyingly incompetent at doing so, but sometimes... they try. Which is a lot less hypocritical than X-men's 'X-men don't kill except if they are called wolverine' nonsense. You at least, at times, feel like there is a war with a hunted side. Well at least up to the point that they hold dance parties with the agents that have literally caused massacres among their own. Some actors manage to pull of very decent acting. I certainly like the acting and fighting of Aaron Yoo.But all together... I wouldn't bother with this show. It feels like a good cowboy trying to ride a dead horse. My praise for the effort but it was never going to work.
... View MoreWhy is this show canceled??? We're there not enough sex scenes or were they not graphic enough? I finally find a TV show that is worth watching and it's canceled after the first season?! No, it's not the perfect show, it has its flaws but the story line is great, the actors are great and the entertainment level was applaud-able. The idea of having groups who can teleport, have telekinesis, and telepathy is awesome, some of which have extraordinary capabilities with their super human abilities. On the other end you have humans who are aware of the tomorrow people and want to experiment and do tests on them. Add to the mix a son looking for his father both who can stop time and I say you've got one hell of a show. There aren't too many shows with just pure energy and excitement. Everything now a days is all drama based and completely boring. A huge thumbs down to all those who helped cancel this show. What can I do to bring this back?? When someone hears of a season 2, hit me up!!!
... View MoreI saw the advert for this show, the title sounded familiar, and I found out it was originally a British children's science-fiction television show, the trailer for this American remake certainly looked worth a go. Basically the show revolves around humans who have developed evolutionary powers and are becoming homo superior, the next state of human evolution, they band together and call themselves The Tomorrow People, and their powers are called the "three T's": telepathy, teleportation and telekinesis. Stephen Jameson (Robbie Amell) develops these powers, as his father (and mother, which you find out later) are also homo superior, he becomes one of The Tomorrow People who stay hidden underground in their lair, while trying to find his father who has disappeared and could be key to ending a shadow war. The other Tomorrow People include elected leader and Stephen's possible love interest Cara Coburn (Peyton List), second leader and Cara's relationship John Young (Luke Mitchell), and the likable wisecracking Russell Kwon (Aaron Yoo). The shadow war going on in the show is between The Tomorrow People and a secret organisation called Ultra, who hunt down, neutralise or kill the super-humans, and the only way to end the war and create peace between the human race and the homo superiors is for Stephen to work for the enemy, and to find his father, Stephen's uncle Dr. Jedikiah Price (Mark Pellegrino) is an evolutionary biologist and the head of Ultra. Throughout the series, set in New York City, The Tomorrow People try to find and protect more of their kind before Ultra can find them, each member gets their own storyline of some sort that causes fuss, slowly but surely they find and follow clues that could lead to solutions, and of course Stephen gets closer and closer to finding his father Roger Price (Jeffrey Pierce), and all the heroes eventually find the strength to go against the real villain Hugh Bathory aka The Founder (Simon Merrells). Also starring Madeleine Mantock as Astrid Finch, Stephen's best friend; Jacob Kogan as Luca Jameson, Stephen's brother; Sarah Clarke as Marla Jameson, Stephen's mother; Alexa PenaVega as Hillary Cole, Stephen's Ultra partner and Dan Stevens as the voice of TIM, the Tomorrow People's artificial intelligence. The cast of characters are as good as you can get, the stories occurring in each episode have the right amount of gripping moments and idea, and the special effects are fantastic, but it is just like Heroes, a great idea with the superhuman element running the show, but it turned a little lame, I did stick with it to the end, but I'm sort of not surprised it was axed, nevertheless it was not a bad television science-fiction drama. Good!
... View MoreI am so disappointed that The Tomorrow People has been cancelled. Another decent CW teen show bites the dust. I'm not sure what their definition of a successful show is but if they keep intending to cancel all their young adult shows after only one season then why do they keep making them!Look honestly this show was not perfect but there was room to develop and grow. It is entertaining and intriguing enough to pull you back in week after week. My one hope is that they finish the show properly and don't leave it on a cliffhanger. Another thing the CW network is known for. I'm sick of getting invested only to have a major loose thread remain. The Tomorrow People is definitely worth watching but resist the urge to get involved, you will only be disappointed when it ends.
