This TV series offers some interesting interpretations of scripture. The array of flawed characters are almost believable. The twists are often confusing, yet there is a sort of old school charm. I wish the writers did more than google the bible...
... View MoreThis show starts off really well. Well, sort of. Enough for me to continue watching with some interest. I am now on the 5th episode, more because the story is interesting enough so far... but it's the little things that get to me. Minor spoiler part...The little things like: -how they show peyote in a bowl, then suddenly they are back-to-back having the trip? Why leave out the part where they drink it? It's just ridiculous to leave out the actual drinking of the drug, but to still imply it's usage. -the guy in the wheelchair... The set-up for sadness is so cringe- worthy. -the girl's reaction to being seen naked (albeit briefly) all throughout the episode tell me that this show is geared for kids. -the mom who lost her kid and her reaction to seeing her possible kid is a stretch at best (though this one is more of a major plot issue, I guess) -the odd clues and visions that god gives the group... So many things wrong with this. It's set-up in such an obvious "let's try and try and fail and succeed and try and fail, until... finale?" type way. If god wanted to test humanity (as an all knowing, all seeing, omnipotent being), then these types of tests are rather retarded. These clues and visions and treasure-hunting could have been made far better with just a bit more time and thought. the cops getting the kid (who actually is a terrible actor) made no sense either. End of spoiler partSo overall, this show appeared to be something interesting at first. It gave us a story that was a bit cliché, but not enough for it to be turned off. As you get further into the show, it get's bad. Worse. Awful. I do not drop shows easily. I'm mostly sad about not knowing the story, but it's just *so* bad. Maybe I'll finish it someday. But I don't know if I can sit through two seasons.
... View MoreI only recently discovered this show because I liked the plot so I continued to finish the season. The entire journey, story line, effects, ups and downs and especially the end was amazing! Such a amazing cliff hanger! I couldn't wait for the next season until I discovered CW's cancellation. One voice may not make a difference however what about all of them put together. Please consider this and bring The Messengers back! If you truly believe it wasn't good enough in your eyes, then make it good enough in your eyes! BUT - In my eyes and through many others it is perfect as it is!
... View MoreI've been reading all the critic reviews and all. First of all I'm a fantasy genre lover. Looking at this series all I see is the message, whatever the plot entails, religious or whatever... From the beginning Lucifer falling down to earth and then 7 messengers connected, and then their destiny is connect; has been kind of like the story floating on my mind for a long time now since knowing about the book of apocalypse. sometimes movies/series carry a lot of messages that might be helpful to us one way or another; this whole story springing out from the holy bible merging the prophecy with modern event and sizing it out to what (maybe) how the end of the world may seem.It actually entails how humans can survive any threatening situation and the pending hope that always see us through. From the plot it somehow seem going against the Christian teachings (which is a big 'bad code') but it significance or message is entertaining. In the bit of it religious personnel (like me) will tend to pin out points... Why don't just let the series roll, a work that took much energy and insight to produce, its quite sad. No matter how bad it is there are many others that would love it.
