From the nods to the films and comics, the intended misdirection of what era does this show belong to, the superb acting, especially by Cory Michael Smith and Robin Lord Taylor, as The Riddler and Penguin, respectively, to what we needed all along, how did Bruce Wayne come to be Batman, this is an epic show that deserves more than just 10 more episodes. Gotham needs another chance at a new network. Fox did not do them justice.

If Gotham isn't renewed for a season 5 I pledge to stop watching broadcast TV forever. This show is awesome.

Nice show that shows Bruce Wayne's childhood. We find all the Batman characters there long before Batman appeared. This series is a real success with a universe in which we find the same code, the same dark leg and colorful characters. A true prelude to what will happen later, the screenplay depicts, through rather well-edited stories, the different characters who cross paths and on whom we already recognize potential psychopaths. The script doesn't always hold water but it remains a pleasant moment of entertainment for Batman fans.

I've never read a batman comic book, I'm just a fan of the recent batman movies and of good TV shows. I thought this show would be good because I usually like the police procedural shows and I thought combining it with the batman universe would be really interesting, even if there was no actual batman. The concept remains great, but the execution on this show was horrible. I tried to keep watching this show because of how much I loved the batman movies but I gave up halfway through season 1. The actors are consistently overacting in every single single scene and the writing is horrible. There are multiple times in every single episode I've watched where the lines are so corny and bad that it's cringe worthy. I want to give the actors a break because of the bad writing, but I can't, they're all terrible. The scenes between Jim Gordon and Barbara are so overly dramatic it's barely watchable. The lines and acting with Fish Mooney and the Penguin are especially atrocious. There is no depth to any character in this show. Nothing about this show is even slightly realistic or believable. Literally everything is extremely watered down to the point where I feel like I'm watching a children's show. The crime bosses are not even close to being intimidating or scary in any way. I can't believe how little effort was put in to this show. It's horrible. Don't let the good ratings fool you, fox must be making it's employees write them. If you're a fan of good TV shows stay away from this one.
