I know a lot of people like this show, but good god is it horrible!! People say that Chowder is disturbing. Uh.... Chowder had more to it than just being disturbing. It's hard to believe that Patrick McHale and Alex Hirsch worked on this show. At least Chowder was copying PRE-movie SpongeBob. THIS was copying POST-movie SpongeBob. Thurop Van Orman, where did you go wrong? I know Thurop voiced Lil' Gideon in Gravity Falls, which is awesome, but him creating Flapjack?? Thurop has worked on such awesome shows like the original Powerpuff Girls series, the Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, AND Camp Lazlo!, and then he betrayed us. Flapjack is an acid trip. While it's not as abysmal as Superjail!, it's still bad. No surprise, the guy who made Adventure Time worked on this show (I would rather prefer Bravest Warriors, btw). I know the creator of Regular Show did not make this show, but this was what PUT J. G. Quintel in my all time least favorite animators list. This was before Quintel made Regular Show. Yeah, I hate the Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack. I call it the ANTI-Chowder in my opinion. The animation is horrible, the characters are all hateable, the jokes make no sense, and the voice acting is so lousy. Definitely skip this one. I recommend you watch Chowder.

***This review is Rate PG-13 (or R (IDK)) for drug reference***First off, I'm going to rate this a 10/10 for 3 reasons. 1. Thats thehighest it will let me rate. 2. I, LOVE, this show. It's original, funny, and it's one of the better shows on cartoon network, which hasreally started to go downhill with a lot of the newer shows like the 3scooby doo remakes that they have now, and the absolutely HORRIBLEanime/cartoon mutant hybrid shows such as Ben 10 and Generator Rex which are enough to make me smash my TV its self. And then there's Johnny test but, i wont get into that because its the wrong page, but "The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack" is a quality, good, clean show, unlike every Total Drama show that they have now which have some very unchild friendly themes and content.Granted, there are some rather dark and disturbing things in this show, but its made up by the funny dialog, uplifting colors and characters so that when those parts roll around they just make you giggle. Which is probably the way the show was meant to be.and finally #3. I just don't see how anybody could not like this show. It's adorable at bear minimum.Flapjack is like a little American tofu ball u just want to roll up and eat because he probably tastes like rainbows and unicorns and gumdrops.Cap'n K'nuckles is a crude, hardened "adventurer" who may start most of their problems by either lying, stealing, cheating, or some other conman/pirate hobby, but despite his crack-like candy addiction and alcoholic-maple syrup-drinking problem he always find a touching and heart-warming moral which flapjack and most kids grow from. Because its a kid show. Not a show for people over 13. Unless you're like me and my friends and you enjoy children's cartoons well into your teens. But this show wasn't meant to be like Rugrats, Johnny Bravo, Angry Monsters or Hey Arnold!, which were all really great shows that I miss. And if it was meant to be like that then they greatly missed the mark and spawned a funny show itself.Oh, and if it was like older cartoons then i would read mostly negative reviews calling it a "ripoff" of the older shows.

In an endless sea of Dexter's Laboratory and Hanna-Barbara-esquire ripoffs, "Flapjack" certainly stands out. While it's simplistic main character designs (Flapjack, K'nuckles and Bubby) resemble the aforementioned cartoons, it's secondary character and background art truly shine. The backgrounds are not only handpainted, but utilize texturizing techniques (sponges and splatters) and multiple layers to give them a 3-D effect. It also incorporates claymation every once in a while to keep things interesting. The secondary characters range from pleasant looking to downright gross (I mean, that's what sailors most likely looked like). Just take a look at the opening sequence...awesome. Not since Ren and Stimpy has a cartoon shown so much attention to detail and proper animation techniques. I'd compare it to a cross between Pee-Wee's Playhouse and classic cartoons of the 50's and 60's. The animators and writers know what they're doing. Some of the animation is a bit graphic for very young children (the mermaid episode was almost nightmarish art-wise) but children, say, 6 and up will really dig it. Also the main character Flapjack is just a tad too androgynous for pre-schoolers to understand (everyone mistakes him for a girl and there is a little bit of gender-bending related subject matter) but otherwise it's pretty harmless. A great cartoon to let your kids watch, and a great cartoon for adults who appreciate classic animation. Watch it for yourself and see.

All I can say about "Flapjack" is that it is one of the most bizarre animated show ever produced. Sometimes we watch it & when the episode is over we look at each other & say "Huh"? But we're always entertained & always laugh out loud at something. As a matter of fact "Magic Genie Island" is perhaps the strangest cartoon episode I've ever seen & I've seen a lot of em'. Suffice it to say that you've gotta see it at least once & experience the oddness for yourself. The animation is striking & in some cases a bit nightmarish but always interesting to the eyes. The voices are spot on as well. A great cartoon is what it is so give it a shot.
