It is a watchable show, you know, kinda like your microwave cooking potatoes is a watchable show. The script doesn't make sense, the characters are stupid, the plot is uninteresting... it's so bad it's insulting to its viewers.Makes that show with Billie Pipper about a call girl seem great ( when it really wasn't).I grade it a great big A. as in AVOID AT ALL COST
... View MoreI actually quite liked this series and it's a shame it ended so abruptly. The story line was OK. Husband leaves, single mother need to pay the bills and get offered a job in a 'massage parlour' OK so far. Few stories running in the background to fill in the gaps and the whole story around the client list was just heating up when it all ended suddenly on the worst cliff hanger ever. Did the rub burn down, did Carlyle die, did they get away with it, was the list found, did anyone live happily ever after. Should have made a 3rd season and be done with it then. Not end it when it did! This was just something easy to watch while I was getting dinner ready of an evening.
... View MoreI'm really amazed by how honest and accurate this show is regarding sexuality. It completely flies in the face of long established post- war dogma. 1) The inclusion of obese women, while not visually appealing, makes the show realistic. No one can deny that female obesity greatly exceeds male obesity, yet outside of a few major metro areas this is a regular part of life that is not depicted on television. 2) We live in a world today that proclaims women as victims of all manner of sex crimes, prostitution among them. Uniformly in this show, we see how prostitution is very much entwined with all female characters even if it is simply tolerance. 3) Amazingly, male socio-sexual behavior is very accurately prescribed. Most men are without question losers, or desperately desiring female love and affirmation. It is hard to watch this show and believe in "the patriarchy". Yet, this is how it goes. 4) The depiction of the kids is really tremendous. This is a messed up show in many ways, and it does show them as a casualty. You can't walk away from this and think broken families are a good thing. 5) The diversity police weren't bad in this show. I feel like the black and white relations were very typical of modern Southern society. Nothing seemed forced, and it seemed genuine. 6) While the show clearly shows how prostitution is a part of the female existence, there is an element of caring to it that is not commonly understood.7) The show indirectly brings awareness of the ongoing economic crisis. Soft prostitution has undoubtedly increased significantly over the years, and this shows just how it happens.
... View MoreI gotta say this. Jennifer Love Hewitt is terrible in this. I have heard her name before but never saw her in anything. Somewhat playing a prostitute in this - I think. Walking around showing her tits and cleavage throughout the movie. Is this her trademark? I don't know. But someone should do something about her makeup. It makes her eyes look like a raccoon. All this black circling her eyes. Fake heavy false eyelashes. Too much, honey. The delight is seeing Cybill Shepherd. She plays grandma and is funny and a welcome relief in this loser. The plot is silly and most performances as expected in a LMN feature film. Teddy Sears isn't that bad. Wish he had more support from his leading lady. But maybe you can blame the writer for most of this. And please, somebody tell Hewitt she wears too much make up. Over the top makeup. Under all that war paint I think she must be a lovely girl.
