It was our loss that the program was not picked up by any network...I can only assume it resulted from the yellow stripe syndrome. I suspect that there is fear on the part of the mainstream, that they might like the lifestyle. :) Many programs that went on to become big hits started slowly and this program would have made it big. Why HBO didn't pick it up is beyond me. It was a nostalgic walk through memories of yesteryear. If you're a boomer or almost a boomer, and not a prude, you will love this program. It is far more than a program on swinging...it is far more about the lives of boomer suburbia in the 70's and how a few found themselves looking for answers in the arms of their neighbor's wives and husbands. If you're not a prude...there will be something to enjoy for almost anyone of the boomer generation...the younger generation shouldn't watch to avoid jealousy of a simpler time, the swinging not-with-standing.

After watching every single episode to date, I find that I'm really starting to enjoy the characters and story lines more and more with each passing week. The only characters I do not enjoy watching are the kids. From acting to looks (yeah, I'm shallow like that), they're all a poor fit, imo.The sex scenes are handled tastefully, though I find myself wishing the show was broadcast on Showtime occasionally, but I'm content with how it's filmed for now. I do like the psychological aspect of how choosing this lifestyle might alter one's way of thinking and how it will drastically change the dynamic of a relationship. It certainly doesn't make you come away thinking that it's all fun and games with no consequences.I truly hope CBS decides to keep the show. It's got great potential. I will miss it if it's canceled.

If I could understand the illiteracy of the user comment '70's drama with no excitement', I'd take my rebuttal, but seeing as how it's hard to even understand, I'll leave that one alone. This show is great. If you ever watched Boogie Nights, Dazed and Confused, and felt the pure excitement and giddiness that comes with hearing Captain and Tenille, this show is for you. And, when I say 'feel' pure excitement, I mean it. The sexual tension is off the charts for cable, and it keeps you wanting more...and more. Two thumbs up. The cast is spectacular. Tom is SO HOT, and Janet - well, as a woman you realize how NOT to behave. Keep 'em coming.

I won't tell you that the acting is stellar or that the plot lines are deep but that hasn't affected my enjoyment of this show. Personally I haven't watched an offering from a major network in the last five years that I considered worth my time and attention.Swingtown has broken that streak in that it is simply fun to watch the collision of different personalities and moralities which happened during this time in our history. Plus, the music is great and the look/feel really allows my suspension of disbelief to take hold and transport me back to the 70s.Don't knock it till you try it :)!
