This series really gets to you emotionally i must admit. It is based on the lives of half brothers Nathan and Lucas Scott. When they first become apart of each others lives jealousy, rivalry, desperation and hatred is shown. Nathan has always been the spoilt dis-obedient child who got everything he wanted, he was immature and it wasn't until Hayley James - Lucas' best friend that he became more compassionate about the way he treated everyone. Lucas was the mature brother who felt abandoned by his father, he was very fortunate for everything he had even if it wasn't perfect. As the seasons go on the characters develop a great chemistry and relationship. It presents them with their future roles as husbands/wives, mothers/fathers and their working lives

Nathan Scott (James Lafferty) is the arrogant star basketball player of the Ravens in Tree Hill, North Carolina. His father Dan Scott (Paul Johansson) is overbearing and a crooked car lot owner. His lead cheerleader girlfriend Peyton Sawyer (Hilarie Burton) is artistic. Her best friend is shallow fellow cheerleader Brooke Davis (Sophia Bush). When Nathan takes a joy ride with the bus, most of the team is suspended and the wise basketball coach Whitey (Barry Corbin) recruits Lucas Scott (Chad Michael Murray) to the team. Lucas is the bastard child of Dan. He and his mother Karen Roe (Moira Kelly) are barely acknowledged by Dan. His friends are Mouth McFadden (Lee Norris), Skills Taylor (Antwon Tanner) and Haley Jams (Bethany Joy Lenz). He works in Dan's brother Keith (Craig Sheffer)'s garage. This is more than beautiful people watching. No doubt, these are beautiful people. The characters are archetypes. It's a sibling rivalry. It's several Romeo and Juliet. It's rich and poor. The first few seasons are great teen melodrama. It does go on way too long. The show is able to keep a few of the original characters but that doesn't stop the slow slide especially in the last few seasons. While I don't mind jumping ahead 4 years in season 5, the reunion feels forced. The fact is the show starts off with great characters and a photogenic cast. By the last few years, the show has fewer characters that I care about and too many new characters that I don't care about.

To begin with I was told that One Tree Hill is just like any other teen drama but what I found elsewhere on the internet was all about how good a show it is and that it has changed lives of people and so on and so forth so it caught my attention and finally decided to give it a try. Mind you that I started watching it after the show ended. From the pilot episode there was some sort of purity, yeah I literally mean that, purity in the sense of music, the characters, their relationships with other characters and their approaches to the various situations that life throws at them. The show starts with the story of two brothers who have the same father but different mothers, and their life at high school and a few other friends and of course their love interests. I never quite came to know how soon I used to finish watching the episodes season after season, and like how glued I was to the show but let me not brag about it blank but give you a few reasons for you to do so as well. Firstly this show has an excellent script, a script that has the ability to make a normal and not so glorious situation make glorious just by the way it's written and the background music that keeps playing. Yes music plays a big part of this show and there are quite a number of excellent songs spread across almost all the seasons and the episodes. Then there is basketball which even if you aren't aware of how to play or the rules, won't find it difficult to follow rather you will enjoy. Another good aspect of this show is that it reads out quotes from various books, uses them to describe situations and is shown in a way that you can well empathize. The editing is top notch, each and every character has their fair share in the show and well distributed in the episodes. There is plenty of love, needless to say heartbreaks as well and there is friendship too. There is something to look forward to in the characters and love them and that is what makes this show unique. The creator of the show Mark Schwahn puts, "We may not be the greatest show or the best show but we will always be someone's favourite show". Honestly this show has something in it which sets it apart from others, that something is literally so many good things that it is not possible for me to explain it here, guess I tried it above, better give it a watch if you haven't and you will have a fair idea of what I want to say. If you do not believe me then go through the groups that are there for this show, read what people who has watched this show said about it, how moved they were and how they still carry the show with them till today. Give it a try. Trust me you won't regret.
