When this first started on CITV (Children's Integalactic Television) I used to find this quite a funny show, and its the first time I saw the main actor on TV. Nowadays though it is repeated too much, I have seen one particular episode at least five or six times. Anyway, basically Brian (Lenny Henry in Pieces' Tony Gardner) and Sophie Johnson (Carla Mendonça, but started off as a better and funnier Barbara Durkin) adopted related children Josh (Alex Kew), Lucy (Charlotte Francis) and Melanie 'Mel' (Danielle McCormack) Barker, and as they did weirder they discovered their true identities as aliens. The rest of the show took off from there with wacky "adventures" involving some special effects and trying to live "normal" life. Also starring Patrick Niknejad as Pete Walker, Jordan Maxwell as Frankie Perkins and Keith Warwick as Trent Clements. The opening titles and Gardner were pretty much the only good reasons to watch it. It was nominated 3 BAFTAs, all for Best Drama (even though it was comedy). Worth watching!

I catch-ed this show when I was 11 and the jokes seemed to grow with he cast and audience.Hilarious is the word to describe the slapstick and gags.I found that My Parents are Aliens copied certain story lines from shows like Simpsons ( the episode Lucy experiments on Josh) and gas that the Simpson's did( "The doctor said I wasn't supposed to get staples in my head") But the show ended on a high with he first family found myself nearly in tears at the end because I've grown up knowing the characters.A truly great British show.

I think you will find this series funnier when you see the repeats, next year. CITV have made the mistake of showing classic episodes on Monday followed by the new series on Tuesday and Wednesday. Big mistake, the new series should stand alone. Yes I miss Mel but give Harry a chance. It is still worth watching for the brilliant performance of Tony Gardner as Brian. The episode where Brian and Sophie fell madly in love is a classic. The actress who plays Tania Thomas in the current series is Sasha Tilley, not Emily Fleeshman who played the part in series 3 & 4. Please can someone amend your records in the cast listing.

While most shows on after school are either silly game shows, soppy teen dramas or unfunny cartoons- 'My Parents Are Aliens' is a real gem! Despite being 14, I still love this show and will, on occasion, laugh out loud at the jokes- something which I don't do very often while watching the kiddies telly. The family on their own make for an excellent show, but what really makes this worth watching are their friends namely Trent and Pete, two good looking lads who deserve more screen time! All in all, this is a really good programme- spoiled only by the added laughter track during the later episodes. The show is usually seen on CITV at around 4:30-5:00, although I am unsure of the days.
