I really love John barrowman and the gayness did not disappoint
... View MoreThis show is pretty decent for the most part... I got into the show right away and started to binge watch it! It is a sci-fi shows that is a little bit different than most in the sci-fi genre. If you're looking for something different I recommend you checking this out! It can be a little "campy" from time to time but most of the episodes are pretty good.

Torchwood, for 3/4 of its run, is true of the rule. The 8 I give this show doesn't mean it's an overall poor quality, it means that the first 2 series pale in comparison to the second 2. Where Season 1 and 2 the story arc was based around the same thing, the Carfif Rift, Season 3 and 4 were much braver, wilder and honestly, adult-themed in scope.Torchwood was supposed to be the science-fiction version of the Doctor's monsters for the adult demographic. If you watch the first 2 series, you will never believe this premise. Sex and blood does not make something "adult". Surpringly and ironically, it made the show look more childish than both Doctor Who and Sarah Jane Adventures. While Torchwood is a fun experience all around, with only one or maybe only 2 truly bad episodes, when Torchwood is willing to fire with all its cylinders, it manages something not even Doctor Who is able to do. Season 3 and 4 have some grandiose ideas, that when executed right, mostly all the time, it's an enthralling and gripping journey.Watch Season 1 and 2 and have fun. Take the silliness for granted. Don't put much thought into it.Watch Children of Earth and be shocked. Take your time to absorb it all. Think of how all that happens is logical. Think about how, if it was for you to give the call, you couldn't have done it any other way. And think how deeply troubling must it be knowing you would've done just the same.Watch Miracle Day and wonder. What if. Would it be worth it? What would happen to society? Miracle Day won't address visually all it's ideas, but it makes you think of them. What is does present to us is mostly good, but never all that great. The 1st episode for this season showed us what the concept can really do, but unfortunately the rest of the season never really capitalizes on that. The story remains great overall and the entertainment is plenty, but its greatest assets remain in its ideas.

Sure, they were silly at times but there was a warmth and humour that drew you in and made you care about the characters.Season 3 went a bit mad but you could suspend your disbelief and it was still gripping TV, but season 4??? I joined IMDb solely for the purpose of warning others like myself, DO NOT WATCH SEASON 4. Just walk away and pretend it never happened. My reasons for saying this are as follows: 1. A relentlessly unlikeable central character. I felt pure relief when Rex got shot at the end, and was inwardly applauding the writers for having the stones to do it, reminding us of the balance of nature etc: Rex was supposed to be dead in episode 1, we've come full circle blah blah blah. Instead they resurrected him and I felt shock, disbelief and horror that now this awful character could pop up at any time or place in the Torchwood/Doctor Who universe. Nooooooooooooooo!!! For the love of God, please, no! 2. An unforgivably meandering plot. Why 10 episodes? The Torchwood of old could have got the job done in just 1 or 2. The writers were spinning this story out way beyond the boundaries of good TV.3. This thin storyline was not even resolved to any degree of satisfaction. Tell us, or don't tell us what "The Blessng" is, but the wishy-washy half telling we got treated to was just painful and insulting.4. Pointless characters. Jilly, Oswald, Angelo and anyone remotely connected to him... What were they for? The only one I really liked with any consistency was Annwn.5. Gay gay gay. OK. Some people are gay. We get it. Jack shags men. But if the writers would just check their own back-story they might remember that he shags women and aliens too. He's omnisexual, which you'd have missed completely if the awful season 4 was your only point of reference. If Russell T Davies ever condescends to read a lowly review such as this I have one thing to say to him: Shame on you!
