Light murder mysteries for those who want a little sass with their mayhem. The characters are charming and likable. I love them all from Dot, Bert, et al, to the costumes and the Art Deco design on those dark turquoise walls. It's a shame it's not still in production. But if anyone can point me towards a music list or a soundtrack . . .

My husband and I are watching Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries for the second time around and really enjoying it.One of the reasons I am writing this review is that several people have written that there are no major male characters in the series. I beg to differ. While it is true there are two female leads, Phryne and Dot; there are also five male major characters: Inspector Jack Robinson, Constable, Hugh Collins, Mr. Butler, Ces, and Bert. The program itself is just stunning. Everything from the setting, Pharynx's house, her wardrobe, and her personality; attractive, flirty, sassy, intelligent, inquisitive, and just determined is a delight. The chemistry between her and Jack Robinson sizzles and one can only hope it grows and grows. As far as Dot, her chemistry with Constable Collins and their difficulties can be frustrating to watch. But it is interesting to see them work out these problems. Yes, many of the cases Phryne works on seem improbable. And her methods are unorthodox as she, at times, forces her way in. But it is all very entertaining. Phryne's detecting methods are a bit reminiscent of Colombo in the way she gathers evidence. Great series, My husband and I are looking forward to a fourth season.

Earlier today, I wrote a long-winded narrative where I broke down everything I like about Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries (or MFMM for the rest of this). But I decided to scrap it because there's really no point in posting it here. I've already beat that horse to death with what I've written and posted on the individual episodes. So I'll shorten it to this – I had more fun watching MFMM than I have any series in a long time. The show has style, humor, drama, mystery, action, romance – it's got it all. MFMM is wildly entertaining. And that's what it's all about for me – entertainment. While I've deleted most of what I wrote earlier, I still want to single out Essie Davis. She's beyond brilliant in the role of Phryne Fisher. Her Phryne is cool, smart, resourceful, sexy, and fearless. I honestly don't remember seeing Ms Davis in anything else, but here, she's amazing. I knew I was in for a treat in the opening moments of the first episode as Phryne sashayed off that ship, sunglasses on, scarf whipping in the breeze, full of confidence. What an actress and what a character! While I'd call most every episode a winner, there are three that really stand out to me. My favorites are: S1E12 – Murder in the Dark, S2E11 – Dead Air, and S3E8 – Death Do Us Part. As far as my least favorite episode, S1E4 – Blood and Circuses. However, I think I may need to go back and re-watch it. I must have been in a bad mood, because looking back, I can't imagine any episode so bad it deserves a 4/10 rating. Overall, I do not hesitate in rating MFMM a 10/10. Even though I didn't rate any individual episode that high, in this case, the sum is greater than the parts. I can't wait to watch it all again. In fact, last night I finished my second go-round with Episode 2.

The series is spectacular! The figurine, the actors, the characterization, are brilliant! The show is smart, intelligent, entertaining, beautifully done with the right among of humor. Essie Davis is perfect as Phrine Fisher! Nathan is also brilliant and u'll catch yourself cheering for then all the time! The outfits and jewelry are to die for and we could use it right now! The should produce some specials about this because is inevitable to be drowned to the visual appeal. Phrine is the ultimate super woman and she's awesome for today, imagine for 20's ?! One of the best shows available in TV. The best way to travel back to 20's with all the appropriate glamour! The biggest problem is the short seasons and big time among then, I hope the producers make more episodes.
