LPS is just good enough to be watchable. Many of the characters have interesting personalities, quirks, or behaviors while others are just annoying, bland, or stereotypical. For example I found Sunil and Vinne grating to watch while Russel, Minka, and Pepper were interesting and fun. The plots and musical numbers fall into a similar catch or miss territory as well. I found myself skipping entire scenes or episodes but laughing at and replaying others. If you are interested in watching it as a test run I would recommend watching S1 EP15 (Topped with Buttercream), S1 EP23 (Door Jammed), and S2 EP18(Grounded).Most episodes contain two parallel stories which alternate usually focusing on both Blythe and the Pet-shop pets. They follow a slice of life format with the occasional minor antagonist like the Biskit twins or a new guest at the pet-shop. Most problems are usually a result of someone blowing something way out of proportions and resolved with relatively little struggle. This show does fall into many overdone tropes but they are relatively painless in most cases. Overall it's a decent show with a issue or two but nothing bad enough to ruin it.
... View MoreThe premise of the show: a group of exotic pets in a day-care/pet shop and a teenage girl that goes Dr.Dolittle-mode that cares for them. You might think 'how more stupid can it get?' and yet, they pulled it off ingeniously. To understand why this series is so good, you have to read between the lines. Then you can see that this series in fact heavily (and subtly) borrows Alice in Wonderland-themes. Not just by the fact that the dumbwaiter is the rabbit hole, but also because of the villains of the show; they are two rich high school girls by the names of Whitney and Britney who are in fact a combination of Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumb characters with the evil queen of hearts. The best element, however, is that they used literary nonsense in the series, and it worked out amazing. Here is a link if you want to read more about that: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Literary_nonsenseSo, when it comes down to it, comparing this series to My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is absurd. It would be like comparing Narnia to Alice in Wonderland. The characters are also nicely written. The main character Blythe Baxter, who for unknown reasons can talk to animals, is a well- defined characters that loves fashion and has her own faults, failings and habits. The same goes for every single pet in the pet shop. That does not mean, however, that this series is without failings. It is never discussed where Blythe's mother is or even if she is still alive. Then there is the fact that nobody ever develops its character, despite the fact that the series gave them many reasons to. This especially goes for Whitney and Britney. It makes the conflicts in the series lose their value. But other than that, I conclude here that this is the best series at the moment that DHX Media produces. This is 1) because MLP has gone downhill rapidly over the course of 2013 and 2014 with season 4 and that incredibly painful and destructive Equestria Girls movie and 2) because Pound Puppies as is, despite being a nice series, is still weaker than this show. So, I really recommend for you to let your child watch this. It's a nice series with interesting stories and meaningful characters.A pity though that, as with a lot of Hasbro's toys, the toys of course have nothing to do with the series.
... View MoreThis show is probably one of the best that I've seen from the hub its just a shame that most people wont see it cause first the title and then BRONIES always compare this show to My Little Pony and call it a "Knock off" or "Rip Off show."Having the majority of the same cast, producers, animators, and music by Daniel Ingram this show should have more love.Another show based on a Hasbro toy line the Littlest Pet Shop. We follow Bylthe Baxter as her dad gets a promotion in his job. They move to Downtown City (which looks a lot like New York City) where we meet our main characters the pets Minka,Pepper,Zoey,Russell,Sunil,Vinnie, and Mrs. Twombly. We follow the pets with Blythe in their everyday lives and adventures as simple as it may be. I really love the character and songs in this show and with Daniel being the composer most of the songs are really and while one or two are not that great most of them are pretty fantastic and catchy as heck. I don't want to spoil things for new watchers so I'll leave it at that.Voice Acting: 10/10 Characters:10/10 Music:10/10 Writing:9.5/10 Rewatch: 10/10 Overall:9.8/10
... View MoreAfter watching the premiere, I was disappointed with a clear view of the show. (you may skip to Tl;DR to skip details)Because I wanted to bring everything to you, I watched through all of it, even though my mind had labeled it garbage at 13 minutes, but I watched both part one and two of the premiere. I tried to keep my personal opinions out of this.It is (for the most part) a cheap ripoff of my little pony (styles, characters, words, etc.).The dialog is strange; if you listen carefully it actually sounds like people recording in a room, not in the environments they are in.Another thing I didn't like was the extreme suspension of disbelief. Many scenes were just so far out - it was way too extreme and made the rest of the show like a bad taste in the mouth; like when you throw up a little bit. Also I noticed people were rude and had bad attitudes against each other. The high amount of conflict really makes me feel bad, and was the major factor which made it nearly impossible for me to continue watching. The music and some major sound effects are poorly coordinated with the scenes with bad tempo, volume and/or timing with what is going on (even worse than the 'home made' videos I have recently been watching on YouTube!). It really made my ears bleed, if you will. The words of the songs are on the extreme side of lame, having nearly no meaning - basically they could be sentences chanted and mean the same thing: "I AM ON AN ADVENTURE. I AM ON AN ADVENTURE. I AM ON AN ADVENTURE...".The characters used a lot of slang. There were some adult terminology used which would go right over a child's head (maybe under 11?), and I thought this was really strange. After the first show, I literally could let the entire show fall out of my mind. I don't want to bring bias information into this, but relatively speaking, I cannot forget episodes from My Little Pony; the messages and ideas are very clear cut, educational and real.Even though the words are clear, the sentences are so wordy or something - maybe it is the bad voice filters I mentioned earlier? This makes it hard to watch and follow the story (the, er, - fragmented - story line which barely exists. Maybe just the premiere is like this? Let me make a new sentence for this...). So since I am not listing this as a spoiler, I won't go into details, but the first show had fragments of 4 stories, and the second had fragments of 6 stories. This fragmentation is so disorderly that it was hard to follow; most of it was absent from my memory when I was writing this, so I had to go watch the recording.=TL;DR= Overall it seems like a lot of garbage was thrown together - random ideas were chosen, then handed to the appropriate person(s). It lacks any valuable amount of creation, imagination, entertainment or education: all things which are good for the mind. I don't know who approved this show for how far it has come, but as the Hub's chairman, I would cancel next weeks episode, without hesitation. I do want to add that my main problem is the _extreme_ amount of hostility and conflict.I do not recommend wasting your time watching this, and hope you haven't already wasted any of your life on this.I do feel bad for leaving such a bad review, but I am trying to be non-bias about it :(p.s: Because of my background in my profession, I did notice an extreme pattern in this show. It appears to me that the show may have a minor focus on 13-35 year old males - who turn content over into 'R rated' material. There was an extreme amount of material in the premiere alone, which was an immediate red light for me. I thought I should add this in here, as a warning to parents and guardians who might have children who may accidentally come across this, 'R rated' material online, while browsing harmless information about the show. The normal viewer may not see this pattern at all, but it is very clear to me.
