A good idea, albeit a little childish script, nevertheless holds to the end, but the end is again meaningless, like other similar unsuccessful projects, has no way to be successfully completed, too much absurdity and stupidity on the part of the characters. And of course there are a lot of questions why so, and even they disappear after the end of the film, because if the end is so senseless, then there are no more questions, although the play of many actors really liked it.
... View MoreDespite being based on a Stephen King book, 'Haven' is not a horror show. It's a supernatural crime drama and it's not scary in the least and not meant to be.It's about a woman detective solving crime in a small town, each episode having a new crime which is somehow connected to the inexplicable 'Troubles' going around town. Sounds ominous but actually it's just the townspeople gaining some magic power and each time everything is neatly resolved. The show is nice to watch but very bland. It doesn't really pull off the thriller style, it's not suspenseful enough. There rarely seems to be any real sense of danger, and the characters are not interesting enough for the audience to care about the inconsequential small-town drama.

The will-they/wont-they isn't the worst of them, but of course it has that. It also has the godawful plot driving clichés of misunderstanding between main characters over partial information; the main characters totally breaking character in order to drive conflict; the bad guy duping people into betraying their friends; the people keeping secrets that would save others for no reason; and my favorite: ALMOST saving the day but at the last second changing their mind in order to screw everything up (this of course happens many times). This could have been a great show but instead of using the main plot to drive it, used corny pathetic unimaginative writing that insults the viewers.
... View MoreFBI agent Audrey Parker (Emily Rose) is sent to Haven, Maine on a case of a prison escapee. She finds help from local cop Nathan Wuornos (Lucas Bryant) and petty criminal smuggler Duke Crocker (Eric Balfour). The town is plagued by strange occurrences. People are cursed by these 'troubles' and she is connected to them in some way.I really like the show, the mystery and the three leads. I like the actors and their love triangle. I actually like the trouble-of-the-week aspect to those early show. The mystery seems intriguing and it's also the show's Achilles' heel. At some point, the show has to start explaining the origins of the 'troubles'. It's too convoluted. I respect the difficulties of trying to keep viewer interest while constructing a viable story. In the end, it doesn't quite make it but it was fun while it lasted.
