OMG! This show Is AWESOME! I started watching a few years ago. I've seen every episode at least twice. The girls are beautiful. I wish Pru didn't leave, but Paige was really cool too.I saw the preview for the new show - the only things that look good are what came from the original - then the didn't even use the original girls OR creators! So just watched the REAL Charmed...this one!

10 stars because of the first four seasons and the first half of the fifth. It went downhill after Julian McMahan left and on a re-watch I never get past this point, but everything prior to it is fantastic and I have accepted that the story ends there. I never managed to get as invested in Paige as I was in Prue, but the family dynamic stays. She does a great job too. The whole show, prior and post Paige, is filled with sweet sisterly moments. I have never been close to my family and all my friends live far away, so I have been mostly alone in my life. However, when I see a show about family bonds that is genuine, cool and refreshing, without being too maudlin and artificial, my loneliness gets alleviated. It's like they are my sisters too. I know it's strange to get so attached. Those aren't even real people. It's all just a story. However, it's so well done, that my logic flies out the window and leaves me feeling very strongly about them. It is a testimony to the writers, the director(s) and the actors' talent. I love Prue and Piper in the role of the big sister, their strength and sense of duty and responsibility. Though I love their other sides too. I used to like Piper when she was the shy and awkward girl afraid of churches, of standing up for herself and of Phoebe stealing Leo away from her....She was so endearing. Then she grew and developed confidence and ultimately she was the protector of the family. As for Prue, it was the opposite with her. She starts as this tough, very serious, very uptight young woman, who is still working out through her issues and gradually becomes looser (in a good way), funnier, more flirtatious and interesting. The only thing I dislike about her story line is that after season 1 she stays in the shadows of Piper and Phoebe, who get those excellent story-lines with Leo and Cole. I had hoped that she would meet someone else after Andy, but she never does. Well, in a way it is better this way, because this way I can imagine them together in Heaven. As for the other two couples, I love Piper and Leo and they are absolutely adorable, but the ones that got to me the most are Cole & Phoebe and their dark, doomed romance. It was very powerful from beginning to end. One of the things that impressed me the most was how Phoebe assures him vehemently in "The Importance of Being Phoebe" that she feels nothing for him and yet, when in "Centennial Charmed" she finds out that this time he is really gone, for good this time, you can tell that she is really hurt and how much she will miss him. The way she picked up the photo with the two of them together and said "I suppose that it just wasn't meant to be" broke my heart. I wish she had cut him some slack and given him more chances and more time to come around, considering that she herself was evil once. I think that had she done it, there was a good chance for him to really overcome his weaker side. But maybe as a Charmed One she felt it was her duty to stand against evil in all its forms, even if it comes from the man she loves."Charmed' is one of the best things that have ever happened to TV. Along with Buffy and Angel, this is my favourite fantasy series. Oh, and don't make the mistake to decide whether or not you should give it a chance based on its alleged similarity to Buffy. People make it out to be a weaker rehash, but that's not true. There is similarity, but it's superficial. The show stands on its own and it's wonderful. Here's a list with my favourite episodes. It's hard to choose, they're all great, but I will try:Season 1:Dream SorcererFrom Fear to Eternity Love HurtsDéjà vu All Over AgainSeason 2Morality Bites (incredibly powerful and a good example for those who say that the show has no depth)P3 H2OAwakenedPardon My PastHow to Make a Quilt Out of Americans (another episode that makes a very good point)Astral Monkey (also very powerful and raising important issues, despite the deceptively funny title)Apocalypse Now (also very thought-provoking and showing how hard it is sometimes to know what is right and what - wrong and how grey things can be. I don't agree with the creed the sisters assume at the end, but I understand them)Season 3Once Upon a Time (what Piper tells Kate in the end, regarding her parents divorce, is one of the greatest speeches I have heard and it really helped me with something that happened to me)Sight Unseen (very different from the other episodes and proof that the show is indeed turning darker)Power OutageSleuthing with the EnemyWe All Scream for Ice CreamDeath Takes a HalliwellSin Francisco (it's so hilarious, the funniest Charmed episode)Look Who's BarkingAll Hell Breaks Loose (again, very, very powerful episode, the most powerful one in the series so far)Season 4Black as ColeCharmed and DangerousThe Three Faces of PhoebeMarry-Go-RoundThe Fifth HalliwellSaving Private LeoBite MeWe're Off to See the WizardLong Live the QueenSeason 5A Witch's TailSympathy for the DemonA Witch in Time (it was SO good)The Importance of Being PhoebeCentennial CharmedThose are the best ones, but all episodes are worth it. One amazing show.

I remember watching this show on TV. It was one of my favorite magical shows to watch. One of my favorite things about this show was that it showed the unity of sisters and how important family is. This show taught good values and that was good to see. My favorite episodes were the one's starring Cole. There was action and excitement in those episodes. Some of the other episodes I did not like. I was upset when Shannon Doherty left the show and that they replaced her with Rose. After Shannon left, the show lost its strength and sparkle. I did not like that. The final season was just way off. You could feel that there was something off about the show during the final season. The director got sloppy and the script writers should have gotten fired. What's his name should have never left the managing of the show. The studio should have focused more on the Wicca/paganism as there is a rich history and a great interest about that. I also feel that this show ended too soon. If the studio hired better script writers and showed better graphic effects, then this show would have continued today and the ratings would have gone up. Nevertheless, I love this show and I bought 2 DVD Box sets. I couldn't decide between the two so I bought both. I have all the episodes and I've watched the ones that I love. They have also brought out comic books about charmed, I did not buy them because I am more of a fan watching the TV show.

The show made it, especially because of Buffy. Producers could see that putting female leads on a TV show can work and be successful. And it wasn't just successful. The light hearted tone of it, made it an easy watch. The jokes, the characters and the bond between the sisters made it all work perfectly (kind of like a charm if you will ... and one pun has to be made at least with a title like that).Until one inciting incident occurred of course. I can only imagine that those unaware watching this, will be shocked to say the least (or rather those who watched it back then). A major change during the course of the series. But if you have or had no idea what was going on, you couldn't see it coming. Whatever the case, the change kind of worked, even though we slipped into soap opera territory, where a new character got introduced hat was never mentioned before. Kind of something Buffy did too at a certain point of its run.But even if you think it worked in its favor, at a certain point the show just started jumping the shark. It actually did it so many times the shark must have gotten dizzy and probably drowned. In all seriousness though: A certain point was reached, were the internal logic of the show got compromised. Head shaking or not is up to the viewer. You might not care about certain stuff and still be able to enjoy the romp as it moves along. Compared to what we get served nowadays on TV this lacks a lot. What saves it from total failure is the charm of its leads (yes another pun) :o)A reboot is in the talks right now, but I doubt any of the original cast will be involved in it
