i can't believe they force children in to this non-educational excuse for a monkey to destroy younger viewers minds but there is one good episode with Donkey Kong and some anime kids. good times but now there are too many silly story lines and not enough border crossings. it is about a girl who is an illegal immigrant from Mexico into California. Arnold Schwarzenegger, Governor of California finds her and deals with her per C&C Regulations and slaughters her pet monkey, and lets her leave. if you really want education; watch the exorcist. But there is also a lot of better educational shows like: The Ring, American Horror Story, Texas chainsaw massacre, Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad,Alien and don't forget Halloween. Peace out guys.

The episodes are sold all over the world. It started with Spanish words in a silly story in English. But each episode was tuned for any market. It is stupid. And quite creationist. So you can have stars, that are small and live around the large Moon. Just like in the Bible. I am amazed how people assume the episodes can be educational for overhearing words like "volcano". But nothing is educational. Unless you count brainless repetitions of words in both languages used in your DVD version. The drawings are rather cute. Cartoonish. But the animation is kept to a minimum, the costs too.And the interaction is nonexistent. Just long pauses that wait for the people watching to obey some orders given on screen. Needless to say, that unless the child is far from intelligent, he or she will learn anything can be said in those pauses.Bottom line you are better with an old game.Contact me with Questions, Comments or Suggestions ryitfork @ bitmail.ch

My daughter loves this show. Don't get me wrong, it is helpful, and is a great learning tool for kids. However, I find myself a little troubled at the major focus that is put on learning Spanish. Not just this show but a lot of others also, including toys etc. My daughter was born in America, Speaks English, and will continue to live in America until she is grown and through school, upon which time she can make her own decisions about what she is willing to learn, and or SPEAK. I believe children shows should be more focused on American culture, history, and education that is primary to their growth as an American. Children in Mexico are not subject to this type of indoctrination. So, I ask, who and when did someone decide what my daughter, and others, should be taught anything other than English, and American culture? Signed, concerned American!

In case you are not familiar with this show Dora is a 7 year old Latina girl who travels around with a monkey named Boots. The episodes typically consist of Dora traveling to three places with the third place as a goal. That is my first complaint about this show, the repetition is too much for a kid's show. The songs consist of the same words over and over and the plots are also the same thing every time. While there is some repetition in every form of entertainment, especially for children, this is absolutely ridiculous. The second complaint I have about this show is that Dora is not educational. Out of all the episodes I have watched the one that most stands out on this point is the backpack episode. During that episode Dora teaches kids how to count to eight twice. Yes, that's right. Out of a 23 minute show the creators devoted an astounding 16 SECONDS to the educational bit. I do admit that Dora did teach a Spanish word but children should be learning more about ABC's, counting, etc than Spanish. The characters don't even have personality so it's not like they could learn about people through the actions of Dora either. My final complaint is that this show has way too much merchandise. You could even buy your kid Dora cereal if you wanted. Considering that that every episode is the same and there is no educational value to this show is it obvious that it was created for only one thing: money.
