I was going to rate 1 star, the extra one is for Gary Sinise.Seriously, have the writers/directors ever went abroad? I'm Asian, I've traveled to several of the countries and have friends from some of the countries which the story of this show took place in, this show is sooooo fake and very offensive for people from those countries. The foreign scenes are so different from what's in the real countries, they made all the other countries look like trash, police there are unprofessional, working environments bad, but the truth is these countries are all very pretty and have high tech crime and ME labs, and these countries have laws, they are not all chaos unsafe areas; also, this show didn't do enough homework on foreign cultures. Like in the pilot, Thais are very peaceful, sweet, and male chauvinism is really not a Thai thing. But every Thais in this episode has a North Korean guilty face, not only the mood looks like North Korea, but their appearance too. Western people may think all East Asians look the same but actually not, the appearance's different between Japanese, Koreans, Northern Chinese, Southern Chinese, and people from all those South East Asians countries to an Asian person are like different between British people, Italians, Spanish, Dutch people to a western guy...... And the Japan episode is very suck too. There's no chance a female would running the police in Japan. Also, although that actress is a Japanese American but her character is so not Japan, the attitude is wrong, the angle of her bow is wrong and even her makeup style is wrong! This is just an American show wearing an "abroad" vest, telling pure American crime stories trying to fool those American audiences who have never travel abroad ever. And BTW, that female character Mae Jarvis is very very very annoying, because she always shows no respect to other nations' culture and make fun of them, really disgusting person!

As one reviewer put it, it "Can't hold a candle to its predecessor".This is very true, and sadly it tried hard to duplicate the 'team', and fails in doing so.The real problem with these characters are that none are convincing in their roles except for Alana De La Garza. When I see Gary Sinise, I think CSI so that blows his character for me. And then there's Annie Funke... sorry, probably the most un-convincing role for her. She would have been better off playing Garcia's role - switching with Tyler James Williams character. But what I like, and what makes this show different (and better), is the portrayal of criminal activity to Americans all over the world. Thus the location sets and cinematography are more appealing than the original Criminal Minds, of which are always taking place in the same environment. This show initially had a very low score, and I wasn't a huge fan of it either, but I guess just like the rest of the viewers like myself, it has grown on me/us.It's always a good sign when improvements become so evident.8/10 from me!

I've never really been a fan of any of the more recent crime shows, the CSI's, NCIS's or the Criminal Minds variants, but I thought I'd give the Beyond Borders first show at least a fair chance to showcase maybe something different, but alas, this is just trash. The first foreign and clearly misunderstood country on the "let's scare middle America chopping block" is Thailand. The premise is lame, the story is deplorable and the entire idea of specialised crime fighters all ready to gear up and save your worthless butt whenever you drop off the radar is laughable in the extreme. If anything like this were remotely true, this team would never see their homes ever again as anytime some hapless random U.S citizen feels like going off the beaten track in any foreign land, this crack team would need to be everywhere at once. What Beyond Borders is trying to get us to believe is that all foreign, or at least non-English speaking law enforcement is either all corrupt and/or useless and a visiting American federal team is instantly allowed to take over and call most of the shots. It's also trying to tell us that you're safer simply staying at home, (that's if you're not shot by your own police or accidentally killed by a family member with your own gun), however if you do decide to travel overseas and get captured by a jungle madman or end up organ harvested somewhere, there's a team all ready to suit up and fly in to your rescue. Well it might burst some bubbles for some viewers but unless you're a member of congress, related to one or worth millions of dollars, your life is in local hands and maybe the consulate if they can be bothered. No one is coming to rescue you so just follow the rules and know you're not indestructible and you'll do fine. Beyond Borders is a reprehensible show and based on what I saw, it's also borderline racist in its interpretation of international relations and foreign policy. Granted it's only a TV show but people tend to soak up the nonsense they see whether they realise it or not so I hope to God that this gets pulled before it causes any unnecessary damage.

I think that too many people in this country do not appreciate that they live here. This country has always been made up of immigrants from all over the world. I think the show is interesting, even though it may not always be accurate. Which of them are? But it is good for us to be reminded that when we leave the USA, we do not have the same rights and protection. Gary Sinise is an ardent supporter of our country and military. His bearing is military, not slouched over as if he is ill or ashamed of who he is. This is only the first season, but a good one. How about we give it another chance?
