If you want to watch a series where anything happens, skip this. Nothing really happens. It's just attractive people in a 2-shot either crying, complaining or talking smack. And apparently every married couple in Atlanta is biracial. Everyone's overwhelmed and outraged, outraged I say.
... View MoreThis is a really well written show with a diverse and talented cast. The episodes are fast paced and often emotionally harrowing with many main characters (including children) in life threatening danger. The violence is frequent and sometimes gory but always shocking. The characters are complex and flawed but they are quiet likeable and very diverse. There are also strong female characters and an lgbtq man who is not defined by his sexuality. This is the kind of show which really makes you think about the issues within it: government conspiracy, racism, free speech etc. There are strong role models who stand up for their family and who have a strong moral principle. The language is mild and so is the sex as well. I would say this is okay for ages 13-14 and up because despite being very high quality it can often be depressing and sometimes disturbing. I would really recommend, you will be on the edge of your seat.
... View MoreThis is I am betting what happens when you take a good story and let network hacks get their hands on it. The concept of a lethal virus causing a quarantine would be really interesting. Of course loe and behold there's a government conspiracy, who'd expected that? Not even a trace of suspense so it's not a spoiler. They might as well have tattooed it on their foreheads. They should have named it Soap Opera with walls. The dram is hokey and seems forced. The casting is mostly sub par. The characters shallow at best and so predictable that you could write their entire story from the first 3 minutes of seeing them on screen. It is like the writers didn't even bother to rewrite other series and movies but plucked story lines word for word only changing the names. I love disaster movies and series along this vein. I even find entertainment in the many B flick incarnations, some of them are quite good actually despite a very low budget. This one falls flat in every possible respect and I finally gave up 4 or 5 episodes in, maybe it was 6. Not sure I couldn't really watch it after 3. I just kept episodes running hoping that it'd find it's way and it never did. No action to speak of and what does happen is so hokey that you might see it on a kid's show. No suspense because the writing is so clumsy and cliché that it's utterly predictable. Drama isn't my thing but it's so overdone and sickly sweet that even the drama fans hate it. The way people act defies explanation, and even when they finally get in character it's pretty cheesy. The show is so over the top PC that even PC fans probably lose their lunch watching it. Somebody wasted some really good camera work and a couple of the actors/actresses are pretty good or it'd be a 1 star effort.
... View MoreStarted watching this to see if it was any good and I got to say I'm hooked. I've read mixed reviews, but I found the characters likable and the story believable only partially. All the drama and life inside the containment is believable if you remember that it's not supposed to be a true story or a documentary on how a containment of an outbreak would really work. The cordon is a plot device that is there to let the show focus on the main characters relationships inside and outside the wall. Without it it would just be another world ending plague show. Yes the writers could have been a little more faithful the how real disease control works and better use of ppe and bio-hazard procedures, but it's not the main focus of the show. The focus is in the people and while I'm sure in the real world outside the wall people would be super protected from infection. We forget that the people inside the wall are largely unsupervised. People are careless when they think their safe. Even temporarily. People also tend to look after themselves or their group and only move to assist others after the crisis is over. So if you can get over the blatant lack of real quarantine procedures. The show evolves into a pretty good drama with death lurking around every corner
