Now I know where actors and actresses who didn't make the grade for daytime soaps went. On a spaceship. A great pretense but between bad acting and the laughable writing, well... I couldn't get through the first episode.
... View MoreThis was one of the best scripts i've seen in a long time... the only reason why i didn't give it 10 stars is the wooden acting of some actors in the series but otherwise, the pacing and story of the whole thing was so well done and every twist hit me like a hammer, it was that good.I was reluctant watching this and it lingered on my list of netflix for far to long, and when i started watching it i couldn't stop anymore. I love deep and complex stories and this completely delivered it was very very cool.Such a shame that it doesnt get extended but what you have here is an absolute must watch, just don't read anything else from anyone, dont watch trailers, just try to watch the first episode in full. You won't be able to stop. It's a fantastic show and would deserve much more beyond what is here.
... View MoreSpoiler alert !!! Socialist propaganda is abundant in this trash heap! In a spaceship of 600 people, prostitution is legal and shown as good for society as is being forced to marry a specific person while normal families are shown to be out dated . Women are treated like trash in this show and men act like sex starved primates. There is zero science and even less good fiction in this travesty that doesn't even leave earth! This show has nudity and gay sex( even a three way!) So if you are into social engineering and destroying civilization then this garbage is for you!
... View MorePremise - Cold war is in full swing, mankind isn't going to survive, using the Mercury/Gemini era as a "front" - in the background a giant spaceship is built by the Kennedy administration - in secret mind you - and sent to the nearest star cluster where it is hoped a suitable planet will be found and man can survive by colonizing a planet. The 100 year mission is halfway through. The first generation of the 600 colonists have all died out of natural causes and old age to be replaced by the second generation born in space. The second generation will begat a third generation who will be the ones who will actually arrive at the star cluster and look for a planet. The opening of the series joins the mission 51 years in with the second generation living their lives. Clothing styles are late 1950's. The sets are an interesting speculation - all "state of the early 1960's art" The library is real books, the consoles are B&W cathode ray tubes, recording media - big reels of tape and so on.The 600 crew are stratifying into upper and lower deck, factions are forming, someone is murdered.Meantime back on Earth - the mission has been forgotten - because it was secret and the few who launched it are dying out. Someone figures out something is going on and.....After one and a half episodes - I couldn't care less. It's a bad Raymond Chandler murder story on a hoaky set that we couldn't heavy lift into space in this day and age - never mind in 1962/3."The grain stores will be short from the illicit distilling going on on the lower deck" You really want me to believe you can carry grain for 600 people for 100 years? If this gets a second season - then people are more gullible than Tom hoping he will catch Jerry one day......I stopped after two episodes..........I became aware of a different interpretation to the series after I stopped - to tell it here would be a spoiler - still doesn't make me want to go back and watch the rest of it.
