I loved this series as a kid. I watched it all. But I feel the whole series was destroyed in my eyes by the bad and boring ending.

Update after receiving 3 out 4 thumbs down. Guys, don't get me wrong, I am a huge fan of Voyager, I watch an episode almost ever day. But I still believe it lacked the passion shown by the Next Generation crew. E.g. I love Chakotay (probably my 3rd favorite character after Data and Picard (and The Doc and Q)) but Riker (who I don't like much) had a lot more passion. As a Maqui I thought he should have been different. In the same way Picard had more passion than Janeway, La Forge more than Tores, and Worf more than Tuvok - of course! Favorite episodes from TNG were Yesterday's Enterprise (so much emotion), The Wounded, Time's Arrow and of course ALL Good Things... and Voyager: Mortal Coil, Timeless and Night. I like narrative that deals with human issues, basic concepts that does not matter if you are in the delta quadrant or in a farm in Indiana, and I find Voyager was less intense in portraying those. ________________ Voyager is a good addition to the Star Trek saga that helped shape the franchise. It has original ideas and was entertaining to watch. It also accentuated the morals and ethics embedded in the prime directive as well as TOS and TNG did.Character and story development was much better than TOS and TNG. They start with an idea and build on it throughout the series seasons and episodes. It gains momentum around half way through the 3rd season. However, it sometimes lacked good execution of the ideas. While the story lines were original the writing felt that it lacked the sense of urgency. This can be demonstrated by the acting - in some situation the lack of passion was so annoying - by god they found out they were left stranded 75 years away from home and no one even raised their voice. If that was TOS or TNG there would have been attempted mutiny, or even Kirk might have pondered the idea of self destruction. There are other examples, almost in every episode. It really felt that most of the cast where just doing a job, at a studio in LA, and going home to their lives each day - they did not take it seriously and were not convinced they were creating something special, and it wasn't. It is very subtle and I know its still good but there is no harm in demanding more.

Despite it being very strongly defended, 'Star Trek: Voyager' has a reputation for being the worst 'Star Trek' show. Being somebody who is quite fond of 'Star Trek', 'Voyager' is certainly not the best 'Star Trek' show (it's not the original series or 'The Next Generation') but it is a long way from terrible and better than reputed from personal opinion.By all means, 'Voyager' is flawed. The first season has a really iffy finding-its-feet feel (most shows have unsettled first seasons, not many to this extent), with actors that don't yet look comfortable in their roles, tedious and derivative plot-lines (a few of the holodeck episodes suffered from this too), sloppy and overly-talky writing and most characterisations suffering from a lack of growth. While most of the characters and actors actually grew, two never did. Those two exceptions were Tim Russ, who was dull and ill at ease as an underutilised character that never developed beyond stock, and Ethan Phillips whose Neelix was never anything more than an obnoxious pain in the butt. To a lesser extent, Roxann Dawson is a little overly abrasive in her slightly one-dimensional role. However, despite an iffy start that makes one want to discontinue if 'Voyager' is stuck with and given a fair chance it is surprising at how much the show improves. The writing is more thought-provoking, flows more and feels more balanced and less talky. The story lines, like the Hirogen episodes, are better paced, are easier to follow without being too simplistic or confused and are fun and thoughtful. While Janeway, Seven of Nine and The Doctor were fascinating from the get go, the characterisation really grows in a good way, Kim, Kes and Paris become more interesting and likable.'Voyager' looks good, slickly shot with sets that never look cheap and the effects are not too bad either. Good music always helps, and there is some rousing and rich in atmosphere music here.Apart from two exceptions, the acting is fine. Particularly good are a perfectly cast Kate Mulgrew and a superlative Robert Picardo, the two most consistently good elements of the show. Jennifer Lien and Jeri Ryan deliver solid work too.Overall, not a perfect show by any stretch of the imagination but better than given credit for. 8/10 Bethany Cox

Can't get enough. This is the first Star Trek I have been openly exposed to. Even in the middle you can sort of figure out the plot and enjoy, and just 'join in' while still getting 'a hang of it', even though watching earlier episodes does bring in a fuller experience and fleshes out the experience of the story. It's got a good mix of many things that all people can enjoy: action, adventure, drama, comedy, and yes, some romance, too. The characters are also very varied and a sizzling mix. Like one of Neelix's soups.Especially good for people who enjoy a Social Sci-Fi of sorts (like me), while not being one completely, does have some elements of it. There is a lot of character development. Of course some good ol' Action is also available. Some Episodes were disappointing and didn't use their full potential (in my opinion, "Equinox I" and "Equinox II" didn't really use its full potential), but I think you will have to make up your own mind. All in all an enjoyable show.
