James Franco delivers a strong performance in this TV series that grips the viewer into 60's Americana life. The story becomes interesting the more the primary character mingles with the lives of those in the past.A definitive story about time travel and it's infinite possibilities and the complications of a story of a man out of place with explosive secrets, trying hard to right the wrongs of the past. I found this impossible to stop watching once I started, and that's a very good sign of captivating television worth watching. Curiously, the FBI/CiA collusion within the story is a hat tip to the truth and about the only connection to reality. Oswald, though historically was absolutely a patsy, this show casts him as an unhinged gun nut Marxist Communist with a Govt agent handler, and a penchant for going troppo in the FBi field agent office. Nice twists on reality and paradox concepts throughout however. Despite it's small flaws this is brilliant viewing that makes me want more.{ edit - } After watching the final Episode 8 in the series, I changed my 8 star rating to ten. Despite the plot being oblivious to points of reality ie: 1) Secret Service told to stand away from the Limousine, 2) George Herbert Walker Bush as the head of the CIA involvement, 3) The next President having been pre- prepared to be sworn in 4) and at least 3 bullets fired at JFK, the many twists in the final forced a re-rating from my observations. Incredibly imaginative concepts, with amazing cinematography deserved to be applauded. Wonderful story, well told and despite being different from the book stands by itself for many reasons. Imaginative and creative being but two. The talents of Joe Henderson stands out, JJ Abrams stands out and James Franco DEFINITELY stands out... All the cast and crew deserve mention

A really wonderful series, I loved every minute of it. When I read the plot I was scared I would get confused, but it was just perfect. I wish it wasn't just a mini series

UGH! In my opinion the book is worthy of a 9. I realize that screen adaptations are difficult but this series is so sappy I feel like I am going to become ill. My top 10 King stories that transitioned to the screen well are:1. The Dead Zone (the movie) 8.25* 2. The Shining 7* 3. Dolores Clayborne 8.5* 4. Misery 8.5* 5. Salem's Lot 7* 6. Carrie 8.125* 7. Christine 8* 8. The body (Stand by Me) 8.75* 9. The Shawshank redemption (minus Rita Hayworth) 9* 10. The green mile 8*

Or I should say lack of values. I saw the concept and was looking forward to a time travel show that dealt with one of the most controversial 20th century issues in the US.Within the first few minutes the profanity began. By the time the third f-word had been spoken, I turned it off. In modern America, I suppose a show can't be considered good or realistic unless it has language such as this. I disagree. I just finished watching Journeyman from 2007 and it was an excellent time travel series that the entire family could watch. Of course it only lasted one season, the norm for short-attention span modern America.
