This show was the best addition to the Terminator franchise since James Cameron's own Terminator 2. Set two years after the events of T2, it portrayed some absolutely gripping situations as Sarah and John are in hiding in preparation for Judgement day.Lena Heady is fantastic as Sarah Connor, and Thomas Dekker bears a striking resemblance to Edward Furlong which really adds some visual connective tissue to the proceedings. Even the "Teeninator" Cameron (Summer Glau), who I thought would be mega-annoying and drag everything down into Smallville pap territory is brilliant. The series make a great change in that not every Terminator looks like Arnie, which makes perfect sense, becasue it'd be a crap infiltration unit if they could be identified by facial features alone. The series did suffer from some very poor writing in Season 2, but I think Fox were far too fast to cancel it. It has other issues like some ropy VFX and some unexplained behavioural changes, but it's just a solid and well made show overall. It's sad that the show was perhaps made about ten years too early. If it had been a Netflix funded show made today then the advancements in TV VFX and a (probably) larger budget would have really beefed up the show's appeal. Having James Cameron himself as a producer would maybe have kept the writing in line too. The rights revert back to him next year so it's not too late ;)It's a crying shame that such a great show ended so early, but regardless, there's plenty here for any rabid Terminator fan to sink their teeth into - and it's FAR more appetising than any of the post James Cameron feature films.
... View MoreTrouble with the show was it was the same thing every week. You can only rehash the same thing so many times. Till people can figure out what going to happened. Needed better writers.
... View MoreI fail to comprehend why people (especially Terminator fans) can dislike the series, but each to their own I suppose. The cast depicted their characters amazingly well, it really stands out. Everyone should give it a shot for the cast if not for the plot already.Lena Headey did an amazing job representing the bad-ass woman that is Sarah Connor. Definitely on par with the performance in T2 by Linda Hamilton. What I have seen is what we expect from one Sarah Connor. Well done.Thomas Dekker's John Connor. I was on the verge of disliking this character but a few episodes in and things had a turn for the better. In the second season his character was becoming more and more interesting because of Cameron and Riley's influences. The way Dekker showed how John feels and what is on his mind was very well executed. I'm convinced there should have been a stronger connection between John and Derek but perhaps there were plans for this in the sadly never produced third season. Good work.Cameron Philips, portrayed by Summer Glau. Quoting Josh F. here: "... what better infiltrator than a beautiful, petite teenage girl?". Simply my favorite character of this series, or any TV series or movie for that matter (Slightly biased though, ha!). The chemistry between Cameron and John is very intriguing, and left me itching for more throughout the entire show. The "maintainance" scene in the finale may come off kind of 'cheap' but it is an important scene to give the viewer a better insight of what exactly is going on with Cameron, given the fact she is a complicated character. All with all, superb. The rest of the cast did a great job as well. I'm impressed. In the end this show is ranked #1 on my list of TV series and movies and with plenty good reason too.
... View MoreI'm a big fan of the first two Terminator movies, (who isn't?) and I just finished watching the first season of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles and I just want to say I enjoyed every episode of that season and it turned out to be one of my favourite TV shows! I can't wait to watch the second season! Sure, it may not be the same without Arnold Schwarzenegger but it's definitely worthy of the Terminator franchise. And the TV show is a lot better than Terminator 3, 4 and 5. I just wish it hadn't ended so soon just after two seasons. Same with Firefly (which barely lasted a single season!). But one of my favourite things about The Sarah Connor Chronicles is that it's filled to the brim with references of the first two Terminator movies. Also the cast are great and I love Summer Glau as a protector terminator, Cameron Phillips, Lena Headey as Sarah Connor and Thomas Dekker as John Connor. I even enjoyed Brian Austin Green as Derek Reese, Kyle Reese's brother. I think this TV show deserves more credit and recognition (not to mention a higher IMDb rating). But at least it was still nominated for four Emmy Awards. In fact, I think it's up there with other classic sci-fi TV shows like The X-Files or Firefly or even the Star Trek TV shows.
