The First movie I fell in love with. Arguably Balu Mahendra's best work!! A tragic love story which always manages to bring a tear to even the hardhearted. The story starts with Unnikrishnan an orphan forest guard posted to a rural forest village who falls for a village girl and tries to convince her that he's not like other guards who are infamous for faking relationships just get them into bed and then leaves. He promptly wins her over and leaves to invite his only friend for the wedding. On way he gets arrested mistakenly for a known criminal. a hustle follows and he accidentally kills a police officer and get life imprisonment. During his early days he writes a letter to his fiancée telling her to forget him. But as his prison term ends he again writes to her and asks her to light a lamp near at a tree if still waiting for him.The movie is told in a flash back narrative style where the hero is telling the story to a students no a tour bus who gave him a ride to the rural village.
