I thought this movie was alright. It just seemed different like does not connect to the first Camp Rock at all. Overall, I did not get the same emotional feeling as I had in the first one which was sort of a disappointment. My Problems with the movie:Too many songs- Reminds me of the cheesiness of what Disney brings. Just made it seem like another clichéd film. I was also irritated when they are just talking then they randomly dance. Im disappointed because they made the elements in the second film so different which just does not connect to the first one at all.Too many holes not filled in- I felt they did not thoroughly explain parts with Nate and the bracelet,HARDLY any character development in the story. Character- Okay, the new Mitchie?? What in the world happened to her? Shy girl to bossy girl? I also do not like Demi's new hair and she wears too much makeup. She needs to go back to her old look. And man I felt like Joe Jonas in the movie was TOO needy for some reason. And last thing there was no character development in the other characters which what I was looking forward to. They hardly got a part!Now that Im done with the negatives. Here are the pros.More Elements- I like how they added in a lot more comedy in it. Like the randomness of Kevin Jonas. HUGE comic relief. His time with the kids was also the most entertaining part. Also the interaction with Joe and Nick about him being an "idiot" always put a smile on my face. I also loved the romantic scene with Demi and Joe at the ending. :) It was sweet.Songs- Even though there were TOO much songs, some of them I found enjoyable to hear. They were catchy also!I decided to rate this 5/10 because it was not the best and also not the worst.

I am not your typical audience for this movie, a 27-year old male who was barely aware of the first movie and is definitely not a fan of the Jonas Brothers (themselves or their music). However, I've been strangely addicted to Sonny With A Chance on the Disney Channel of late largely due to the presence of the immensely likable and talented Demi Lovato. So, thanks to that factor and Disney's incessant, annoying advertising for this film, I thought I would give it a shot, and to be totally fair I even downloaded and watched the first one beforehand.Well, there are some strong positives in Camp Rock 2, I will admit, but they are canceled out by the large negatives. The plot of this film is far flimsier than in the first, for one thing. It's tired and predictable, the "twist" ending notwithstanding. So suddenly we have a rival for Camp Rock, yet they are never more than generic "villians" and egocentric stereotypes. Both Brad's nemesis and Luke Williams are not given any back-story, and don't really function at all as characters except to sneer and laugh at the camp rockers. Meaghan Martin's Tess, who was deliciously catty and given lots of fun lines to chew on in the first film, is relegated to nothingness and she defects to Camp Star and basically spends most of her scenes sniping with Luke. Thankfully those aren't many. The resolution of her "arc", such as it is, is lame and not very credible.But then, what IS credible in this film? The relationship between Nick Jonas and Chloe Sullivan's characters is laughably awful, and I find it hard to believe that his song - funny as it is - would have the intended effect after his weird and strangely creepy behavior in the rest of the movie. Um, then again the girl isn't that with it either. The three main friends of Mitchie's from the first movie are banished to maybe ten lines TOTAL combined in this one, and as a result I stopped caring about them. Kevin Jonas is moderately entertaining as comic relief but when the highlight of your character is getting your butt glued to a log, there isn't much else to say.Which brings us to the main attractions, Demi Lovato and Joe Jonas, and the songs themselves. Joe has good chemistry with Demi but aside from one scene (right before "Fire and Rain" when they argue), his acting is woeful and his facial expressions while singing are cringe-worthy. Demi is excellent for the most part but not up to her usual standard because her character is written into something else altogether. When she finds out the pressure that Brad will be under should Camp Rock fail to compete, she morphs into a domineering control freak and basically kills all goodwill that this movie could have possibility contained. Despite these failures of plot and character, Camp Rock 2 does deserve credit for some really good songs and choreography. Most of the dances are energetic and filmed and edited into rousing set pieces. "Brand New Day" is a good way to kick everything off, and I love "It's On" and "We Can't Back Down" as well. "Fire and Rain", aside from Joe's contorted face, is a great duet. However, most of the other songs fall flat; I didn't care for "Fire" all that much and the latter songs are all forgettable - including both Final Jam numbers and the campfire stuff at the end. The less said about the JoeBros' attempt to rock and roll, the better. Nick's song is definitely funny but less for it's intended purpose and more for the reaction it elicits. However the most egregious thing to me is that the single best song was cut out of the broadcast version! "Different Summers" is an outstanding showcase for Lovato's vocal range and yet did not air during the premiere; this is an amazing oversight by Disney.Overall, I can't say I wasn't entertained by the movie, but it was mostly for all the wrong reasons. The paper-thin characters, idiotic plot and subplots and some strange choices by the actors made it difficult at times but the songs and choreography were worth sitting through once. Hopefully Lovato and some of the other players get something worth their talent and time, one day soon. Until then, I'll stick to watching Sonny.

With the release of "Camp Rock" in 2008, Disney had found another franchise to milk alongside with "Hannah Montana" and "High School Musical"; a stereotypical movie about a regular teen chick with a regular teen problem, filled with catchy songs and some daily life vs. pop star struggles. However, the first "Camp Rock" was a movie which I genuinely enjoyed. While it's not a film of the lifetime, I found it to be sincere and quite likable. Just as most successful movie franchises, "Camp Rock" gets a sequel, but it's a well known term that most sequels aren't better than their predecessors – and unfortunately the highly promoted "Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam" is no exception and comes off as a mild disappointment.With all consideration; "Camp Rock 2" isn't exactly bad; just a little disappointing. The film does have its cute and enjoyable moments, but comes across as less compelling as a whole. The main plot isn't exactly a misplaced choice from the screenwriters (a battle versus two camps), but while the first movie didn't exactly had a groundbreaking story, it had a more stronger, internal conflict; Mitchie's (Demi Lovato) conflict with Tess (Meaghan Martin) and her identity-struggle and Shane's (Joe Jonas) internal struggle of being a cold, inaccessible person because of his fear of being fooled by someone who wanted to take use his celebrity status. Besides, the script is less structured this time and jumps from a random musical sequence to another random musical sequence and the events feel less chronological (written by the not so cleverly Dan Berendsen, which has proved his lack of skills in several script).The film wants to expand the screen time of the characters, but doesn't really take the time to develop them as they did in the first movie. The film gives more time to Shane's band members Nate (Nick Jonas) and Jason (Kevin Jonas). It's not strange that Kevin screen time gets expanded, since he's proved his comical ability and a charismatic presence in several Disney projects. But the subplot with Nate and his love interest Dana (Chloe Bridges) from the forbidden group "Camp Star" is just contrived, unnecessary and doesn't add anything to the plot. Another noteworthy notion is the appearance of Demi Lovato. Yes, this notion has been discussed before, but her appearance as Mitchie was more restrained and natural in the first movie. Now with her black hair, light tan and tons of makeup, she appears as a different character. No 'one shall blame Miss Lovato for her desire to change her appearance (after all, she's still in the puberty), but perhaps she could have waited to dye her hair after shooting the sequel? It seems like the director were more eager to turn this sequel into a "High School Musical" flick, with a more musical feel to the movie and having the characters suddenly break out into song and dancing to cheesy, choreographed dances. The tone and feel highly resembles the "HSM" sequel and the message is more kid-aimed and more kid friendly than in the first movie.Okay, enough with the complaining; I did enjoy this movie to an extent. It has more kid friendly humor this time without being awkward, while at the same time, the tone is more mature as well. The film has several catchy songs, especially the excellent duet "Wouldn't Change a Thing" between Mitchie and Shane. The film introduces us to a few new characters, as the bragging and sexy Luke (Matthew Finley), Nate's love interest Dana, her cynical father who's the leader of Camp Star and even the youngest JoBro Frankie gets a cameo. The film has also its funny, sweet and sincere moments, has an unpredictable twist to the ending and a good moral.So while "Camp Rock 2" fails to live up to its predecessor, it still makes a cute, harmless and watchable family flick. It's not a masterpiece and it's not intended to be one either, but a light TV flick which doesn't make any harm. Now let's see if Disney has intentions of making a third movie.

OK.. I'm completely disappointed. It was generous enough for me to give 4 out of 10.1st of all, I like the 1st Camp Rock way better. This one doesn't work for me at all. I keep forwarding the movie. Most of the parts are just lame. Especially the songs. Hate all the songs (maybe just one that i like) but that doesn't change the fact that this movie is suck.Let me get this clear, i don't like Demo Lovato. I just hate her acting skill. She really should be focusing ONLY on her singing career!! She is suck at acting. I bet many will agree with me on this.As a suggestion, maybe the next camp rock's director should find another girl for Mitchie's role.
