This movie needs a prepared mentality for it.. how prepared?... if you are religious and christian then you could enjoy this movie by comparing the elements in it to what is known in Christianity.. if you are religious and not christian you could also enjoy it as a christian do even some of the elements in the movie you do not agree with.. now if you are not religious then there is a slight chance that you like this movie if you see it as fictional story.. like any other fictional story you could see that is PG-13.. The movie included an introduction to a family when later loses a member of it.. a grieving member of that family got an unusual invitation to a "magical world" to meet "God".. The dialogue with "God" and the "magical world" discovery is almost the whole movie!.. There are very good actors and actresses that really attracted audience to this movie but then they did not give a realistic feeling and reaction to what it is suppose to be sometimes. The scenes were amazing .. artistic direction is good.. the CGI quality is lower than expected at some points.. story line is expected after the first 20 minutes and there are couple of emotional scenes that will make me re-watch them several times. It could be difficult to watch if you are not religious or do not like christian movies but if you watch it as fictional story then you might like it!

I watched this movie 4 times in last 8 weeks. It's absolutely great story. Not sure why some users complain about religious and similar stuff. Beautiful story, very good actors. I'd rate with 11 stars if I could.

This film resonated deeply with me and my family. I've seen what the loss of a child can do and felt the loss of a sibling. I haven't found truer depiction of what loss, love and finding God through such pain and suffering can do for a family. I definitely do not think that this film is only for the religious and I think that the message is important for everyone to hear and see. I myself am not extremely religious and do have my doubts, but there is no truer message the one 'The Shack' is trying to tell. What forgiveness can do and the healing it can accomplish is shown beautifully in 'The Shack' and the pain of letting go is portrayed just as it is in real life. Although not everyone has been able to meet the Trinity and receive the help that Mack got, what God helped him to do and what he felt is felt and done by many others, and I think the film does an amazing job of showing that.Thank you

I don't label myself as a "Christian," mostly due to the falseness I have experienced with some people who call themselves this. I am spiritual and believe in s higher power. I loved this film, and found it beautiful and very thought provoking. Very touching and lovely, and the cast is magnificent.
