Man, who wouldnt love to see a corrupt banker get conned at his own fraudster game! In Tower Heist its payback time for the hardworking people who get ripped off from their pension money by a sleezy banker. Ben Stiller, Mathew Broderick, Casey Affleck and Eddie Murphy, what a superb and hilarious comedy cast! Great actionscenes, hilarious dialogues with a plot that puts a smile on your face and keeps you guessing...Tower Heist is for all ages, if you want to have a good time and crack up laughing with your kids or with your granny. Numerous scenes are copied out of great action movies (Oceans Eleven, Die Hard, Speed,French Connection). All done tongue in cheek, very classy. Lovely action comedy with a revenge theme ! They dont come any better than this!
... View MoreThe employees of a rich man who steals his investors create a plan to get their money back from him, when he is under home imprisonment from the FBI. The movie's story sounds worse than it actually is. There is something in it, which makes it interesting, even though the whole robbery plan is too common. The performances are not that good, but the script doesn't help to improve them. The jokes are not that good either, but there are some entertaining scenes. The hero of the day, that Josh represents, is just too cliché and the ending was just made rushy, like they were running out of time and they had to conclude in less than five minutes. So the movie just reminded me of a badly made Italian job or ocean eleven and so I give it a 2 out of 10.
... View MoreTower Heist is Ben Stiller's latest comedy where he plays the building manager of a New York high rise tower block. He regrettably invests him and his staff's pension money with a smooth-talking crook who lives in the top floor penthouse. Naturally, the crook wastes their money and they're left without a cent. Therefore, Ben and a few other disgruntled employees, enlist the help of small time crook Eddie Murphy to break into the penthouse and steal back their money. It's a decent enough premise and, again, all the cast to a decent enough job. There you have it - it's a decent film. Not quite funny enough to be a comedy through and through. Not quite dramatic enough to be a straight drama. It even throws in a bit of a high speed car chase into the mix to add an element of 'action' into the genre. It's a bit of a mixed bag. If you go into it without any expectations, you should find it an okay watch. Not great, but not bad either. Fans of Stiller and Murphy should find extra things to enjoy about it.
... View MoreI really expected this film to be funny and good. I hung in there thinking some actual laughs would come during the heist portion of the film which took forever to come. Eddie Murphy doing his same old shtick and Ben Stiller as flat as possible left me expressionless. Also, were the film makers freakin kidding me with Matthew Broderick. The guy looked half dead and uttered words that looked like some untalented schleps first audition.Toss in a depressing ultra straight portrayal by Alan Alda to secure the fate of this bomb. The film was trying to be outrageous to the point of distraction on one end while not knowing where else it wanted to go with the serious elements . I cringed at the dialog.A heist comedy with this kind of talent should have sailed. The only standout was Gabourey Sidibe. Her scene with Murphy where she asks if he's married was funny. Why couldn't more of that have been there? So much lost potential. It just didn't work, period. Glad I didn't pay for the rental as I would have done when the film was first released.
