Cop Out Trailers

Detectives Jimmy and Paul, despite nine years as partners, can still sometimes seem like polar opposites—especially when Paul's unpredictable antics get them suspended without pay. Already strapped for cash and trying to pay for his daughter's wedding, Jimmy decides to sell a rare baseball card that's worth tens of thousands. Unfortunately, when the collector's shop is robbed and the card vanishes with the crook, Paul and Jimmy end up going rogue, tracking down the card and the drug ring behind its theft, all on their own time and without any backup—except for each other.

The biggest problem with this film comes in the first scene, where Tracy Morgan gives Bruce Willis an anniversary card. They've supposedly been working together for more years than dogs live, yet for the rest of the film you wonder if they've even spent more than than a car ride in each others company. Willis had more chemistry with the supposedly complete stranger, Samuel L Jackson, in Die Hard 3. Rookie cops, sure. Forced together cops, sure. But it's just straight out the gate. Which is a shame, as it also comes before probably the best scene in the film, where he's paying homage to some screen greats (including a film that Bruce Willis doesn't recognise), which gives Morgan a chance to shine.Putting Sean William Scott and Morgan together gives a few laughs, as they have the energy that could have driven this movie in a more Kevin Smith style direction (and maybe having them as two rookie cops might have been the way to go), while Willis and Jason Lee duke it out as more fatherly figures. Yet the leads personal obsessions - which tie in with what would in many films the main story of over the top drug dealings - means that the suspense gets a little lost/watered down, that Willis practically phones it in. Morgan seems to have more of a rapport with Michelle Trachtenberg - playing Willis's daughter - which probably says more about her skill than his.Given the amount of time Morgan has his back (on the phone) while the action is going on and other issues, it just doesn't seem to fit he'd have made ten years alongside Willis without his older partner asking for a transfer

With anyone else this is just a TV movie - but to be honest the cast make this movie and without them it is just a second rate cop flick. Story wise it's about as predictable as there is BUT the way it is acted makes it watchable and quite enjoyable. This is not a movie to sit in with and take in - it's a move to watch when you're a bit tired or after a few drinks where you need some entertainment. What more do you want, a bit of action, some laughs some faces you know and a good conclusion. It won't win any awards but as a bit of good movie fodder it does very well. You won't hate it. you won't love it - it's just there - enjoy - I did.

Cop Out lives up to its title literally as a cop out. The movie was a huge disappointment and you get the bad feeling that you've seen it all before. I was waiting throughout the movie for something funny but nothing ever came. I was looking forward to seeing Bruce Willis in a comedy again and Tracy Morgan came across as someone that could be in the same league as Eddie Murphy and Chris Tucker. Even the trailer showed a lot of promise however the movie failed to deliver. I felt very cheated.Basically Cop Out is about two NYPD Detectives Jimmy Monroe (Bruce Willis) and Paul Hodges (Tracy Morgan) who are suspended following a failed drug bust. Jimmy Monroe must also track down his prized baseball card that has been stolen so he can cash it in to pay for his daughter's wedding and Paul Hodges must deal with his wife who is allegedly cheating on him.Cop Out has the derivative and unoriginal feel about it and it shows. It's certainly a case of "Been there, done that" and you don't need to look any further than 48 Hrs (1982), Beverly Hills Cop (1984), Lethal Weapon (1987), Red Heat (1988) and Rush Hour (1998).This is Bruce Willis' worst movie that he has ever done and Tracy Morgan was very irritating throughout the movie. Seann William Scott in his small role can't even save this movie. Kevin Smith has certainly done a lot better with Clerks (1994), Mallrats (1995), Chasing Amy (1997), Dogma (1999), and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (2001). Cop Out is nowhere near as funny and enjoyable as these movies.Cop Out is one of the worst comedies I have had the misfortune to see and certainly one that I felt very cheated that I was expecting laughs but nothing eventuated. What a cop out.1/10.

I watch this in early 2015. Seeing the title, I thought the movie will be about either a Bad Boys style funny action movie or a Ride Along cop action plus a coward loud mouth movie. But instead the story presents quite a new entertaining thing to watch. The earlier half may feel a little less energized after the hilarious interrogation scene. But the latter half is indeed fun with all those funny yet serious twists and turns in the story. The acting overall is surprisingly good and entertaining. Yes we see a less lot of Bruce Willis' usual action face, less "Yippi-kay-yay m-f-ers!!", and even less agile action that's his signature even in old age. But that is nicely complemented by Tracy Morgan being quite hilarious in his performance. It's surprisingly nice to see Tracy Morgan to be successful in acting out his role, being funny not only limited to verbal jokes as his background as a stand-up comedian makes him do best. Having Sean William Scott sure does pumped the comedy to a really entertaining rate.
