Wow, this was the biggest piece of trash. And the reviews on here are hysterical. "Oh this a brilliant piece of feminism vs the patriarchy." Spare me, this is just a really laughably horribly bad film about absolutely nothing. Guy kidnaps a woman running free raised by dogs (not a cartoon FYI) and keeps her in a barn where he forces his family to take care of her while he predictably rapes her, impregnates his daughter, beats his wife and raises a reprobate son. All this in a slow pace with horrific loud lousy music and amateur production. I was laughing at the end of this. Cave woman gets to go back to the woods with the now found and released dog lady and they take the little girl. Anyone trying to justify this or seeing anything more to this trash probably likes a modern painting that looks like a three year old scribbled for an hour. Pretentious fools also buy those for insane amounts of money and wax poetic about the meaning but in the end it is just trash no one is willing to call out as trash.

An attorney finds a feral woman living alone in the woods and he captures her and sticks her in his cellar. He reveals her presence to his family and enlists them all in his project to "civilize" her. Not that this household is civilized. The father rules the family through violence and intimidation, and he is passing this lesson on to his son. The efforts to train the feral woman become increasingly violent and turn to sexual assault. Everything ends in a spectacularly gory comeuppance and the establishing of a new family unit. This film is far from subtle, but it's a pretty nifty allegory on power, violence and the male dominance of the family.

There are flaws a-plenty in "The Woman", beginning with the fact that the title itself is unbelievably uninteresting, and that's part of the reason why it's taken me so long to view this flick despite the fact I've had it in my collection for years. All around, the acting was good. I could've done without the hipster soundtrack, though. It just didn't fit the scenes, not to mention the bulk of the tracks were supposedly being emitted from a 7 year old girl's Raggedy Ann radio. As revenge films go, this one is as brutal as others in the genre, including High Tension, I Spit On Your Grave and Lady Vengeance. The father in the movie seemed like one of those "All praises to God! Holier Than Thou! Blessed Be His Name!" practitioners. I wish that element was brought out more to expose just how hypocritical these people can be. Anyway, this wasn't a total waste of 90+ minutes. Could've been better, could've been worse. Not as violent as several reviews would have you believe, however.

I saw this movie on a rented DVD in 2012. Well, i heard so much praise bah this film that i cudnt wait to play the DVD. One mistake i did. I saw this before its prequel "Offsprings". This movie started slow. Nothing happens. The capture of The Woman while she is out in the forest drinking water was silly. I thot how cn cannibals or feral clans still exist that too so close to civilization. Still i continued watching. Still nothing happens. To top it all the acting was bad, editing was lousy, music terrible n the screenplay sucked big time. Some may find it strange and aggressive. I found it boring n unexplained. The movie ended with a wild bloody finale. Gore hounds will b happy but they hav to wait till the end. Its a very slow movie. Thats it. I didn't recognise (or was aware) that the Woman was Pollyanna McIntosh. Her other two films which i enjoyed (Exam n Let us prey), i saw much later aft this flick. It's directed by Lucky McKee (May, The woods, Red). Adapted from the book written by Jack Ketchum.
