The Sorcerer's Apprentice Trailers

Balthazar Blake is a master sorcerer in modern-day Manhattan trying to defend the city from his arch-nemesis, Maxim Horvath. Balthazar can't do it alone, so he recruits Dave Stutler, a seemingly average guy who demonstrates hidden potential, as his reluctant protégé. The sorcerer gives his unwilling accomplice a crash course in the art and science of magic, and together, these unlikely partners work to stop the forces of darkness.

The CG for its time is quite poor. Plot is super predictable, acting is way sub par, and the use of Nic Cage is minimal which is my biggest concern honestly. At any rate, It's not hard to see why it has 40% on Rotten Tomatoes, and I couldn't agree with them more.

Nicolas Cage cant act and he ruins every movie he has ever been in! Ben Affleck is way worse but I'm sure the list could go on for a very long time. Wish he hadn't destroyed the sorcerers apprentice! WOW and I have to write more about how this guy sucks plays no emotions as I have to have so many words to post... ill say it again he sucks at acting! holy they want ten lines of text.... hopefully this works... because I don't know how to write anything more... about how much he sucks... also ghost rider was destroyed by him! I wont waste my time watching season of the witch because it looks to painful. Doubt I will waste another minute of my life watching a movie with him in it!

THE SORCERER'S APPRENTICE is another in a long line of "magical mentor" movies that Hollywood like churning out. Usually these movies have an Asian flavour, hence the likes of BULLETPROOF MONK, THE FORBIDDEN KINGDOM, THE KARATE KID remake etc. This one takes the classic Disney story as its inspiration, with more than a few nods to FANTASIA.A slumming-it Nicolas Cage stars as a centuries-old wizard engaged in an eternal battle with pantomime villain Alfred Molina (essentially reprising his bad-guy role from SPIDERMAN 2). Unfortunately, the film is saddled with one of the most irritating young leads in Jay Baruchel; if I never see this guy acting again it will be too soon! He just saps life and enjoyment every time he's on screen, which is almost all the time. The good news is that the great Toby Kebbell shows up, looking almost unrecognisable after DEAD MAN'S SHOES, perhaps channelling the spirit of a young Billy Idol. If only he'd been the lead instead! The movie as a whole is filled with a plethora of CGI-enhanced mayhem, including a big broomstick set-piece that's played out as a fond homage to FANTASIA and is the best bit of the film. The special effects are pretty good, but they do get a bit wearying and samey after a while. And I can't enjoy a film that wastes the talents of Monica Bellucci so chronically, so THE SORCERER'S APPRENTICE is a strictly turn-off-your-brain piece of Hollywood entertainment.

So this movie was inspired by the Fantasia cartoon, The Sorcerer's Apprentice? Why? Is screen writing really as difficult as Hollywood makes it out to be? Surely many many other writers were able to create better scripts that this movie's script. I felt like I had already seen this movie long before I ever did, Nic Cage in a bad wig, Disney seemingly selling me jailbait yet again, a plot that consists of name- dropping and C.G.I. effects... A movie that's sole purpose of being made was to enable the movie's producers to sleep with young naive actresses, well, and probably a few young but not so naive actresses in addition, allegedly. Sex is where babies come from.
