I was thirty minutes into this before I realized that, based the reviews, this is supposed to be a horrible, awful and not very good movie (but mostly horrible). It was none of that. It's what you'd expect from a low budget, straight to disc action film. Maybe my enjoyment level was increased by my low expectations. Or maybe it was the well choreographed fight scenes (there are plenty). Maybe it was the reasonably believable plot.Maybe all of the above?I liked it, but then I watched it late in the evening and was hungry for an OK and entertaining flick for dessert. I didn't expect too much, but I was still entertained and satisfied, even surprised.

Normally I like to watch movies with an history like the mummy, clash of the titans, etc... But this was very hard to watch... and I've to admin this is a very bad movie...Why? First of all, the most important thing, the story: very poor storyline and script. End is so predictable...Secondly, the acting, awful acting, the actors don't take their role seriously, the don't live in their role. acting has no depth. No emotion at all...Effects, just amateuristic, not credible. Looks very cheap. Fighting scenes are not even better, poor choreography...

I'm a little surprised at the many one-star reviews for this film. My son (age 11) and I watched it one day when he was home sick, and we found it perfectly good entertainment. The acting was fine, the effects were decent, and there was a coherent story. That's a LOT more than I can say for other straight-to-video movies that we've watched, including 2012: Supernova and others of that ilk. Of course we noticed right away that The Rock was not involved, so perhaps we adjusted our expectations accordingly, and therefore were not as disappointed as other users on this site. Of course it's derivative of other mythologies, but that's not really a bad thing, when you're looking for an escapist 2 hours. As a side note, I enjoyed the main female character, who is pretty, but also strong and feisty - so often I almost grind my teeth down to nubs at the offensive way that women are portrayed in action movies - stupid, helpless, and clearly only there so the camera can linger on their cleavage and other, er, assets.

Someone in Hollywood got bored and said to themselves, "I think I'll make another D-grade sequel to another film that hasn't had a sequel yet, because every film needs a sequel." Thus, Scorpion King 2 was born. I rank this right up there with "War of the Worlds 2" and "Highlander 2". I think I've had enough of Hollywood's assembly-line mentality. Good movies can't be manufactured; they need to be created. It seems everything is made of cardboard these days, and mediocrity is King. While you're at it, how about making "Titanic 2", "Driving Miss Daisy 2", and "Saving Private Ryan 2", because every movie needs a cheap sequel. I just can't wait!
