OMG. Not even frequent and gratuitous breast shots can save this film. Did I say film? I meant mindless drivel captured on tape. 20 minutes into this film my brain felt like I had downed 4 bottles of mezcal complete with the worms. Flatline, brain dead, psychotic stupor. How can crap like this get made and films that actually have a point of view and something to say don't? The premise is that we follow young people partying in Cancun. Well enough. But in order for me to care about anyone in the film, reality based or based on fictional characters, the key is to have characters you care to find more about. This group of people were about as interesting to watch as stockers in aisle 15 at a wal-mart.

MTV is the epitome of narcissistic superficial artificial slack-jawed mentality that has changed the direction in the youth of American culture for the worse. And the film is quite possibly the nadir of said stupidity. In it a group of young blank twenty-somethings slither their war through spring break in Cancun sharing a beach house (a la "Real World). How these rocket scientists can share a house when they don't even share a braincell among them is a mystery for the ages. One of them is a sober geek who never drank so much of the "reality" movie is based on getting him wasted. All of this is accompanied by mostly flavor of the week crappy music that again is like MTV. Horrible. My Grade: F

I just watched this flick, and after i read all those horrible reviews i thought "did we really watch the same movie?". Then after reading some reviews more carefully I suddenly understood what makes the opinions of this movie so different - the way we take it completley depends on all of our personal experiences. If you have never been abroad with friends drinking, partying, meeting girls and being up all night you probably find this flick boring, pointless, shallow and stupid. All because the moviemakers never wanted to make something with a message. The only thing they tried to do was to catch this teenage gang as natural as possible (wich they did as good as they could - not great though.)However. If you HAVE a lot of partying experinces, like being abroad, with semi-laked drunk people all around, checking our girls, drinking, dancing and having fun, THEN you probably get a bunch of nice memories and a great I-wanna-party feeling.I fall into the second category and, thus, i liked this film. Everything you see isnt very natural, and some of the dialogues we see seems too well prepared to be spontanious. But i never lost the feeling that this wasnt all fake. Because i have been in that situation, and like it or not - thats how it IS! The girls are slutty, everyone is drunk and doing stupid things, people are screwing around like crazy, noone gives a sh*t about personalities and everyone is only there because of two things: Having fun and getting laid. But thats how it is! And its FUN! (this last sentance is my own opinion)So i guess the conclusion of this review is that if you never have experienced anything like this you will probably dont like it a bit. And i fully understand why. If you have, however, been on a place like this or if you just like crazy partying you probably have a nice laugh watching this flick.Take a quick thought before you go and rent this one and think about what category you fall into. Then you probably will know what decision you will be most happy with. Nice watching 8)(personal rating: 7/10)

The Real Cancun may not be a Oscar winner, but it made its point. The Real Cancun was actually quite a good movie. In the end you wanted Allan to get some! You actually felt for these people. And no Im not some middle aged man staring at the little girls, I'm in the same age bracket as the Actors. I am not a fan of reality shows, but this one was definately worth the look.
