Indulge yourself to an afternoon matinee on the tv while watching this somewhat action style film. Similar storyline to many a movie out there, couple on vacation one is a Marine (Dibiase), the other his wife as a advisor to hotel. They get there and all hell breaks loose with rebel forces taking over and taking hostages. Cue the Marine wanting to go in and get his wife and rescue the hostages. For a WWE movie it isn't terrible but the editing leaves little to be desired for. The characters are really flawed by no development to most of them. Michael Rooker with a small but complex role was well received. I would chalk this up to ok in action as the choreographed fight scenes were less than stellar. 4 out of 10

This movie, like The Marine, is brought to you by the WWE. The first film was to introduce wrestling superstar John Cena to action movies. Marine 2 follows by bringing in WWE's young powerhouse Ted DiBiase, Jr. as the next hero in this sequel. Cena played his jarhead all muscle and stunt work, but DiBiase is a whole nother kind of cat.DiBiase is pro wrestling royalty, being the son of Ted DiBiase, Sr., the so-called "Million Dollar Man." The young DiBiase does his dad proud with a great performance and excellent fighting skills. In shirtless scenes, DiBiase - with the ripped body of a professional athlete – establishes his physical presence and the film never really strays from showcasing him.DiBiase plays a Marine sniper whose last mission turned out bad and Lara Cox is his very hot wife. He plans to get some needed R & R at the plush tropical resort in the Philippines where his wife works, but instead, when terrorists attack, he has to fight his way out to rescue her and the other hostages. The plot shamelessly rips off "Die Hard," but the locations are beautiful, the women are gorgeous and there's cold blooded action throughout the film -- and DiBiase is all about the action in this movie. In one long fight scene against two ninja assassins, DiBiase matches them hold for hold, taking out each one with some deadly wrestling moves of his own.The scenery is beautiful and there are more wild shootouts, explosions and evil villains for any one movie. What more could you ask for? DiBiase puts in a good first effort here. Tough, likable and built for action, he could go places. Hopefully his next movie will give him a better chance to show us what he's got.

"Pistol Whipped" director Roel Reiné's "The Marine 2" with Ted DiBiase Jr., is an in-name only sequel to director John Bonito's "The Marine" (2006) with John Cena. The chief similarity between these two action epics is that an out-of-uniform Marine must rescue his wife from a gang of miscreants. In "The Marine" John Triton (John Cena) chases a gang of amoral diamond thieves to save his wife from them. In "The Marine 2," Joe Linwood (Ted DiBiase Jr., in his film debut) has to contend with a gang of heavily armed terrorists.Comparatively, "The Marine" boasted exciting action scenes with lots of over-the-top violence, whereas "The Marine 2" is less outgoing. There are neither car nor boat chases. Mind you, both heroes don't have it easy achieving their objective, but the villains in "The Marine" seemed more dangerous than the 'separatists' in "The Marine 2." Basically, "The Marine 2" is a "Die Hard" at an island resort where our brawny hero has to save twenty hostages from heavily armed gunmen who demand that the millionaire who bought the resort must fork over a 'tribute.' Translated, tribute here means ransom. Reiné and "Whisper" scenarist Christopher Borrelli along with freshman scribe John Chapin Morgan keep him busy after the opening 30 minutes trying to tell the good guys from the bad guys and surviving the explosives, martial arts, and bullets that he has to dodge. After a nightmare sniper mission that cost the life of an innocent bystander who was caught in a crossfire, Joe has two weeks off, so he accompanies his lovely wife Robin (Lara Cox of "Kangaroo Jack") to the Far East for a hotel resort opening. Robin works as a public relations representative for an arrogant author and businessman, Darren Conner (Robert Coleby of "The Phantom"), who has written a self-help bestseller. During the opening festivities, a local group of gunman, led by Damo (Temuera Morrison of "Couples Retreat"), crashes the party and take twenty hostages. Joe is off somewhere else when this takeover occurs. The military move in and establish a perimeter, but the government refuse to take action. The government representative dispatches a team of mercenaries to contend with the problem. As it turns out, the villains have somebody in the mercenary camp, and the attack to rescue the hostages fails miserably. Joe manages to kill a few villains, but he realizes too late that their efforts are useless because one of the mercenaries changed sides.Eventually, Joe is able to infiltrate the resort and eliminate guards until he discovers where his wife and Conner are being held. Although it takes a little time, Joe is able to kill them all, including Damo in a last-minute brawl on a ship that blows up. Joe emerges from the ordeal with some flesh wounds and Robin survives the nightmare without getting raped. All in all, "The Marine 2" is an average white-knuckled thriller with some moderately threatening villains. No, this direct-to-video movie doesn't surpass its predecessor, but it is entertaining enough—despite its predictability—to make it a tolerate potboiler. DiBiase is a better actor than John Cena, and the wife has an occupation, something that the wife in "The Marine" lacked.

OK... As for a WWE movie, this was a little better than the first Marine. But, if you are going to make a movie, PLEASE DO YOUR HOMEWORK. This movie supposed to be about a Marine, however, JUST LIKE IN THE FIRST MOVIE, they are wearing the WRONG UNIFORMS. In real life, you will never catch a Marine wearing Army digital camouflage. The uniforms worn by the two snipers at the beginning are from the U.S. Army, not from the U.S. Marines. The Marine "Marpat" digital camouflage is either dark green or desert tan, and in the desert, he should have been wearing the tan digital cami's. The ones he was wearing are the universal Army digi's. He was totally dressed as a soldier and not a Marine. In the first movie, Cena walked off the base wearing an Army hat (cover). This angered a lot of Marines, many Marines actually.Sorry guys, just passionate about this type of stuff. As you can tell, I'm a former Marine. It just ticks me off that these people spend millions of dollars to make a movie, but can't get a uniform correct.
