This movie I feel gets an unfair amount of hate directed at it. I'm going to start by saying this; is it the greatest comedy movie ever? Is is superior to Myers' Austin Powers franchise? No not by a long shot. Is it funny? Are there some good jokes that make you laugh or even just chuckle at? Yes. OK so Mike Myers plays Guru Maurice Pitka, the titular Love Guru, who is tired of being second best to Deepak Chopra but opportunity arises when he is approached to save the marriage of Toronto Maple Leafs hockey player Darren Roanoke and possibly get one up on Chopra. While helping Darren, Pitka learns the important age- old lesson of being himself instead of trying to be someone else. The film also stars Jessica Alba, Justin Timberlake, Ben Kingsley and Verne Troyer with cameos from various celebrities. I first saw this movie after watching the Austin Powers movies from a mate who said this was another comedy from Mike Myers. He loaned it to me and I really enjoyed it, I thought it was very funny two of my favourite moments come from the meeting in Coach Cherkov's (Verne Troyer) office and when Pitka tells Darren he can fight anyone for any reason then proceeding to muck around with Cherkov. It's only in the past couple years I learnt that it didn't go down well with others. Of course I defend it. As I already stated it's by no means the best comedy movie ever but it's enjoyable nonetheless. The only thing that brings it down for me is the fact kanye west appears in it, granted it's a small cameo but still he's a sight I'm sure no-one wanted to see in the movie. Ideally when watching this movie you'll want to ignore what others have said about it and just not think too much, you'll find some of the jokes offensive granted and think "wtf!?" with some moments but the rest you'll smirk, chuckle and even full on laugh at

I loved this movie! I laughed the entire time. If you are am Austin Powers fan you will love the guru. It was similar in that the jokes were sexually charged but bedroom humor is always fun to watch as a couple. Teenagers will probably get the same amount of humor, enough to enjoy the feature. Although I have read some bad reviews, I think that they were probably a little squeamish to the type of humor, or in general needed to vent some steam and they just used the Guru as a target. Go get laid or find Jesus people! I recommend this movie to anyone looking for a good date night movie, or as a movie to enjoy between the guys or girls. I am not endorsing sexual behavior in underage kids, but I do think it is something teenagers would enjoy as a slumber party movie or something. There is not actual nudity shown, although implied, and there are no sex scenes to speak of...well...there was that one time with the circus elephants... Enjoy the show!

For a comedy, then "The Love Guru" is surprisingly devoid of laughs and genuinely funny situations. Compared to previous Mike Myers movies, then this was a rather stale installment in his filmography. The story is about guru Pitka (played by Mike Myers) who travels to USA in order to settle a romantic issue between Darren Roanoaks (played by Romany Mallo) and his girlfriend Prudence (played by Meagan Good). Without their love-life in alignment Darren is unable to play well in the hockey matches. The laughs were scarce and far apart. I actually think that I laughed only a single time, and it was when Verne Troyer was defibrilated and was sent gliding along the ice arena. While lacking laughs, then the movie was rich on colorful characters who were portrayed by an impressively array of acting talents. Most memorable in the entire movie was the guru Tugginmypudha played by Ben Kingsley."The Love Guru" is not a memorable movie, and not one of Myers best moments. The movie is suitable for a viewing once or twice, but doesn't really holds enough contents to support multiple viewings.I had expected more of a comedy from this movie. Especially with the impressive cast ensemble. Sadly, the movie turned out to be less than mediocre.Oh, and before I forget; the best part of "The Love Guru" was the fact that they used Mariska Hargitay as a blessing or something. That was just a stroke of genius. And even better was it when she actually showed up.

I would call The Love Guru the worst comedy on record if there weren't so many Adam Sandler films competing for that same recognition.Mike Myers should've seen this coming. He made the glorious Austin Powers. He voiced the everlasting Shrek. He made me laugh for decades with Wayne's World. I know he was trying something new here, but he should've put a stop to it before it started rolling.I'm not even going to get into the "offensive" category he set up. If anything, I'm offended that he thought ANY of this was humorous.Admittedly, and I will not lie, I did laugh when the title character fights a chicken – sorry, I mean COCK. That was funny, believe it or not. Wait, that and the "Gamblers Anonymous Casino Night" line. Okay, those two scenes that took up 15 second of the 87 minutes were hilarious. The rest should be avoided at all costs. I watched this ONLY because it was featured in the How Did This Get Made podcast lineup. IF you must, watch this first, then listen to their hilarious take on it.Otherwise, ONE HUNDRED PERCENT…stay away. This is an awful movie with so many things wrong with it that I don't want to spend another second on…* * *Final thoughts: A coworker continuously states: What CAN'T Justin (Timberlake) do? I responded: Not save this movie.
