At least this version of the unintentional M. Night comedy is to be taken seriously.Well, maybe, *too seriously.*Extremely well shot, thought out, thoroughly original, nicely acted and directed, this strange phenomena film will satisfy any End-Times Subgenre Fan. I usually love movies like these and this one definitely ranks high on the list. Apparently, go green or don't go outside. No spoilers there, that's just my interpretation. Something happens outside and people are forced to stay indoors or venture outside and suffer excruciating pain that leads to almost instantons death. So, that's the trauma. The movie actually centers around a normal, sad office that will keep their workers in excessive overtime (three months locked in the office) until two unlikely companions decide to venture off, down below the streets, in search of their loved ones. Naturally, they're not going to find the nicest of survivors when everyone's forced indoors from the outside.Admittedly, it took me two nights to finish this. Helps I caught it on Netflix, but I ventured away more than a few times to mess around on Facebook. This is NOT the movie's fault...it just wasn't the fast moving, end of days movie/concept I'm used to. Overall, this is an ABSOLUTELY well-made film with a ton of heart, very good special features and explores a lot of what I like in these kinds of movies: News exposition sprinkled throughout, tons of examples of people acting like they would in these scenarios, city shots of mayhem and a theory that sticks to its guns, in this case, the deadly outside.Highly recommended, though I don't think it will solve anything. It's not a message for what we can do better now even if there are tons we can alter to make a better future for the next generations. Mostly, it's just for entertainment and that's okay. It's got its clichés and predictable outcomes, but it's all good. We've seen these stories for a hundred years. Somethings always carry over.***Final thoughts: If you've seen this, you'll know what I'm talking about: One part I couldn't get past was the open windows and doors. That part, to me, changed this to a supernatural thriller, but, sometimes you just gotta go with the suspension of disbelief they provide. (Nope...still not buying it, but fine, okay. Open that window. Breathe that air. At least they were given that luxury. And it was nice to see our heroes given some relief.)

View MoreDid I mention how much I hate subtitles because I really do very very much I spend more time looking at the words than paying attention to the film itself but with the ultra fresh premise it kept me drawn into it. The fact that the filmmakers made something simple as this made it interesting because for me I wondering how would they successfully pull it off. The constant flashbacks helped a ton to understand how it a began & made it more interesting as the movie continues it becomes another end of the world flick but with an interesting premise. Even heading to the climax when he tells him "you're gonna walk across that street I started thinking wait a minute why the hell couldn't you do that earlier rather than to be in a claustrophobic space throughout the film. But long & behold he makes it which afterward seem like the entire concept now has been crushed in the final minutes of the films end. When his fellow traveler dies before him I didn't really care too much it seemed as though they tried to force them to be best friends when the feeling of them even getting to that level was never executed properly all In all the premise was grade a I just didn't like the ending too much probably wouldn't watch it a second time but I don't feel like I wasted time watching it still wouldn't get me to recommend it to anyone
... View MoreApocalyptic movies are some of the most overdone, repetitive, and terrible movies that keep being created, and that is coming from a huge fan of the genre. Unlike most other apocalypse style movies "The Last Days" pulls out new a creative conflict that is not often considered instead of using one of the vanilla end of the world scenarios. "The Last Days" does a phenomenal job of creating relatable and believable human conflict that drives the characters to make decisions that in turn drive the story. The mixture of successes and failures experienced by the characters blends beautifully into the story and leaves you feeling the same emotions as the protagonist. With that in mind the special effects are not great but are not used enough to degrade the story at all. A must watch for any apocalypse fan.
