This movie essentially revolves around a man named "Jonathan Cold" (Steven Seagal) who is a courier of sensitive material and operates under-the-radar of governmental oversight. As it so happens, he is pressured by a man named "Alexander Marquet" (Philip Dunbar) to deliver a certain package from France to a wealthy businessman of questionable ethics living in Germany. Although he is reluctant to accept this assignment at first, he eventually comes around. However, it isn't long before he realizes that there is much more to this mission than he has told and that there are other parties willing to do whatever it takes to acquire this package from him. Now rather than reveal any more I will just say that, other than the excessive killing happening throughout the course of this film, there really isn't much to this film. The plot was confusing, the acting was mediocre at best and the action scenes were totally unrealistic. That being said, while there are certainly some good Steven Seagal movies out there—this isn't one of them and because of that I have rated it accordingly. Below average.

Watching a Steven Seagal movie these days is like going to McDonald's. You know it won't be very good, but you know exactly what to expect. Call us crazy but we can't help liking Mr. Seagal and watching his movies, most of which are just terrible. Some of his earlier efforts were good, well-made with decent scripts, but in more recent years, between him being grossly out of shape and scripts being written by some high school kid, not to mention the lack of budget, there just isn't much to recommend these flicks. In this outing, we have to have a highly-trained man who works outside the box to deliver a mysterious package to someone. Now the package is just a box wrapped in paper with strings tied around it. My initial thought was why the devil didn't they just ship it via UPS with no fuss and no muss? Nobody would even know it had been shipped and there was nothing about it to make it stand out. Of course then there would have been no story, and even with Mr. Seagal in charge of the package there wasn't much story. At one moment his unfailing marksmanship was deadly at any distance and at another he couldn't hit a guy across the room with a shotgun until the fourth try. As usual in this type of film everybody wants to kill Mr. Seagal but somehow he always comes through. There was absolutely no reason in the world to send the package anyway. The whole thing could have been handled by the shipper with a match. End of story. And of course, in this type of film, his handlers always want to eliminate Mr. Seagal. In one scene the baddie tells a top killer he wants Mr. Seagal dead and an empty folder at Langley tomorrow. Later, when he talks to his boss on the phone, he asks what his boss wants him to do about Mr. Seagal. I realize dead and an empty folder at Langley is pretty vague, but even so, I got the idea before this hit-man did. One other concern is that if you don't have the budget to make an action flick with lots of special effects, it's better to stick to something less spectacular, like a little love story or something. As I said above, we can't help liking Mr. Seagal. I especially loved him when he was posing as ship's cook and, despite the attack going on around him, spent a good deal of time worrying about his pies in the oven. So despite the deterioration of his films, I suppose we'll keep watching until there are no more.

This time Mr. Seagal took some unemployed British actors to Poland. Possibly also to Germany and France. In Poland he found cheap military apparel. Of course there are lots of ruins in Eastern Germany as well. Eastern European stunt men are really difficult to describe. It is not the first time, Mr. Seagal makes a budget film this way. His own performance was rather boring. He hardly ever fought hand to hand this time. For some reason some of the hired guns in the film were said to have been speaking Danish. I have no idea where he got that idea. I didn't hear them speak Danish. I can hardly hear what Mr. Seagal says in this film. This will be an hour of my life, which I will never get back, nor remember. That's why I write this review. Still another thirty minutes left of this discount product.

Well I watched this last night with my brother, and to our amazement we both ended up thinking it was not too bad at the end of it....Yes its pretty close to most of his movies with a lot of holes through out and bad supporting cast.... however what made it so different from most of the others is the shooting scenes I thought were quite enjoyable, and at times the slow motion shots were pretty cool as well, however to be honest after a while it just got annoying... I don't want to say to much and give out spoilers, but I do think if your a Seagal fan you should watch it.Of course I am not saying it is one of his best or even close. But I know a lot of you out there have seen a lot of his straight to video movies such as Out For A Kill, Kill Switch, Attack Force, Submerged etc.... and compared to those bunch this was quite enjoyable. I also watched Black Dawn last week which I didn't know was a sequel till just now, and it was HORRIBLE!!! I actually think it was Seagal's worst movie yet!!!! The Foreginer on the other hand was nothing like it and was a lot more exciting. I give it a 6 over all, and would actually watch it again with a friend.I guess it just depends what your comparing it to. If I saw this right after watching Hard to Kill, or Out For Justice then I would find it horrible.... however the past week I watched Kill Switch, and Flight of Fury and this was a breath of fresh air compared to those two haha... I might just be being to generous though.
