When i heard about this french movie of ghosts unable to instill fear to those who enter their manor, i thought immediately to « Beetlejuice ». As it casts my best french comedy actor, Mickael Youn and the arousing Audrey Fleurot (for those who don't know her, picture an older more affirmative, more talented Kristen Stewart), it was the perfect opportunity to go to the screen and inviting my nephews along. But then, on the credits, it 's written that the movie is inspired from this old tale. It's indeed the same effects and tools that « Beetlejuice » used with a modern family and the connection with the daughter ! Here, the french production doesn't have to blush : the costumes, sets and special effects are really well done ! The movie is funny thanks to cowardly Mickael and bossy Audrey. However, this french modern family is a total failure ! Laroque is too old to play a mother and nobody can believe into her new age karma or her talent! Her husband is totally transparent, even less talented and someone should tell that earphones are the modern plague to cinema ! The adopted children are useless ! Only the daughter is OK, thus as good as a rebellious kid as Wynona was. At the end, it's an average movie with good intentions and moments but that is damaged by poor writing and terrible casting for the secondary parts !
