An indigestible turkey that means the adaptation to the cinema of the famous 80's TV series, The A-Team. We are before a succession of vertiginous and bombastic action scenes impossible and crazy even for a cartoon film. See the numbers with the helicopter and the tank. Any resemblance to the series is pure coincidence. The argument is confusing and uninteresting. The end is pitiful with another exaggerated scene of action in the containers of a ship with a special effects that sing to computer by the four sides. The actors who play the mythical team are disappointing. Liam Neeson is perhaps the one who hits the most, but he's too big for the role once played by George Peppard, because he can't imitate a good American accent. He's not alone in the category of British actors doing bad American accents, because frankly it's not easy. That's why you should just cast someone AMERICAN! What? Bruce Willis wasn't available?! Bradley Cooper, alias "Dog Face", makes too many antics, so many that he might have been better in the role of Murdock. Quinton "Rampage" Jackson looks like Mr. T, but in the film is too soft and has a ridiculous conscience problems and does not wear the necklaces of the authentic B.A. Baracus. And as for Murdock (portrayed by South African actor Sharlto Copley, who can't imitate a good American accent), say that his births do not have the grace of the genuine Murdock (Dwight Schultz) of the original series. It is missing also the famous tune of the series that in the film shines by its absence, as well as the disguises of Hannibal or the vehicles that constructed with three drums and a pile of junk. The van hardly comes out and the Vietnam war, of course, has been replaced by the Iraq war but the film's plot has nothing to do with that of the series. The A-Team always helped those who suffered abuse from a local chief. The translation to the big screen of this unforgettable series had to have been carried out scrupulously respecting the original series, otherwise we find ourselves with a routine action tape but bored by its exaggerated action scenes and its convoluted argument. But the fundamental problem of this failed adaptation is that the material on which it is based is mediocre. So let's not kid ourselves, The A-Team was a great series. What happens is that nostalgia prevents us from honestly judging it. And in those years, those who saw it when we were little we settled for anything such as Knight Rider or Miami Vice seen today are quite bad and proof of it is that the film adaptation of these series have been a sonic failure. And it is that there are things that it is better not to touch them and to leave them as they are not to spoil the good memory that we had of them. What's next, a Knight Rider or an Airwolf movie?
... View MoreWhen I saw this movie was coming out, I was excited but also a bit fearful. I find any time they remake an older series, they ruin it one way or another. That being said I went and saw it in theaters with my friend. We're both A-Team fans. The movie starts out very fast paced. Definitely action packed and more for men. I find at times the plot is thick and moves a bit slow. I was definitely bored at times, which I shouldn't be when it comes to a summer block buster. It's a serious film filled with action and comedy but nicely balanced. The actors are true to form and bring the characters to life. The story was alright. The acting was great. The comedy definitely worth watching along with the action.
... View MoreThe story is indeed not very solid. It bases itself quite well in the Iraq War to rejuvenate the age old A-Team origins from the TV show. But then again all those twists and turns don't really give a surprise to viewers, especially to seasoned action movie junkies. The action served falls to the class of crazy action, which is fully illogical doable only at the minutest of chances, if not to say impossible. Such action may look cool to seasoned action movie goers, but most of the lay people need to understand more about the military technical and gadgetry slang used overly. The acting overall is quite good for me. Liam Neeson as usual played his action role very well. Although I noticed that his role here has him to be more active than his usual characters. Bradley Cooper proves he can act well in comedy, action, or even action comedy in this movie. Jessica Biel, Quentin Jackson and Sharlto Copley really complete the needed character angle for this movie. Patrick Wilson however needs to step up on his game here.
... View MoreThis movie is not as bad as the reviews make out. As a fan of the TV show, I was looking forward to the new movie. I'm gutted to say "The A-Team" is a mess. The characters have the same names, and they play the same type of characters. But that's where any resemblance to the popular TV show ends. The plot in a paragraph: A crack commando unit (The A-Team) is sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security prisons to clear their names.Oh no that's the voice over from the beginning of the TV show, except it really is the plot of the movie. Bradley Cooper is the star of the show as 'Face' and Liam Neeson (enjoying an Indian summer of stardom) is good as 'Hannibal' they are the best things in this movie. The other two members of The A-Team are fine, and Jessica Biel is OK too. Sadly the plot is drawn out, too much shaky cam during the action scenes, and its running time is about 30 minutes too long. Apart from the annoying shaky cam "The A-Team" has some ludicrous set pieces, including our heroes falling from an airplane in a tank! To give it credit, the movie knows it is childish. The PG-13 is appropriate. There's little actual gore, no sex and no R-rated language. A funny story is I expected "The A-Team" to do much better than the R-rated Sly Stallone led ensemble "The Expendables" released the same year. "The Expendables" walked all over "The A-Team" and got two sequels. Sadly the last one, went the same PG-13 route as "The A-Team" and appear to have been a franchise killer. I think if a sequel was green lighted, it would have been a much better effort the second time around. I think too much time has passed and Neeson and Cooper are both much more popular now too.A missed opportunity but still watchable thanks to Cooper and Neeson.
