'Terror in the Mall' ('TitM', 1998) DVD, can also be found under the title 'Dark Rain', 'Disaster at the Mall', or 'The Mall'. 'TitM' is a thoroughly watchable & entertaining production. An interesting premise/story & good acting carry this film in an interesting mold of the Disaster/Thriller mixed genres. A tighter script, more capable direction & better editing all prevent this film from being an excellent film. You can probably expect this to be remade into a blockbuster someday under better production. This film is recommended for die-hard fans of the Disaster genre and the curious Disaster/Thriller mixed-genre viewer. If this film is interesting, definitely consider 'Hard Rain' (or 'The Flood', 1998) DVD, a more compelling production of similar genre. For similar themes consider: 'Flood: A River's Rampage' (1997); 'Nippon chinbotsu' (or 'Tidal Wave', 1973/1975); 'Dawn of the Dead' (2004); 'Tidal Wave: No Escape' (1997); 'Dawn of the Dead' (1978); 'Typhoon' (1940); 'Tsunami' (2005) TV/DVD; 'Daylight' (1996); & 'Tsunami: The Aftermath' (2006) TV/DVD. Also consider: 'The River' (1984); 'Earthquake' (1974); 'The River Wild' (1994); 'The Towering Inferno' (1974); 'The Day After Tomorrow' (2004); 'Absolute Zero' (2005); 'Nippon chinbotsu' (or 'Tidal Wave', 1973/1975); 'Meteor' (1979); 'Twister' (1996); 'Volcano' (1997); 'Category 6: Day of Destruction' (2004); 'Dante's Peak' (1997); 'The Swarm' (1978); 'The Core' (2003); & 'Outbreak' (1995).

This film is so bad that my sister walked in the room and asked me if it was a spoof. I wasn't sure. I mean it can't be serious can it? I mean how many holes can a plot have? it most likely will make you laugh (cause its so dire) and cry (cause its so dire.) Its surprising to see how a reasonably competent actor as Daniel Webb (Alien 3, brookside) could A) be so poor B) act in this trashy, souless, tripe. Watch only if friends are present and lost of alchol are involved.

This movie was a victim of mediocre writing and bad directing. Rob Estes was just fine in the role of an escaped killer. He was more than capable in the action scenes and managed to rise above the material. The film, though, was filled with cliches and some sub-standard supporting performances. The direction was jerky and clipped. This could have been an excellent action movie with an improved script. While still a watchable film, it was all Estes and not much else.

I LOVED this movie! I'm a big fan of Rob Estes. He's sooo cute and did GREAT as 'Sgt. Chris "Sam" Lorenzo' on USA Network's original series Silk Stalkings. I'm still a BIG fan of silk. He's doing great on Melrose Place as 'Kyle McBride.' Keep up the good work, Rob! You're a GREAT actor. I really thought he played the role of Glenn perfect, but I didn't really like him playing bad guy. Anyway, this was one of the best action movies from FOX Original Movies!
