A realistic character study of a young man in his early 20s negotiating a disintegrating relationship with an ambitious artist/photographer girlfriend and an ascending fling with an adventurous floater, as well as pressures from his family and society to go to college/make steps toward success, all the while becoming increasingly interested in the questionably viable life of playing guitar.

I enjoyed this. It's a quiet film where there isn't much obviously happening. The dramatic tension lies beneath the surface. In some respects I had the sense the lead character was in a state of depression...not really interested in anything, not motivated to want anything, not wanted to work or engage the world. The movie captures the state of his life and you have a sense of the currents underneath the surface that are going to move him onward with his life. What really struck me about this film was its strong sense of setting. Much of it happens outdoors, whether in the wading pool out in front of the house or in the park in Chicago and, particularly in the visit to Arkansas with that walk across a field with the grasshoppers. The film will on occasion let everything fade into the background except for the natural sounds.

If I hadn't been able to start folding socks midway through this bore-fest, I would've fallen asleep. I love indies, but this one was pointless, meaningless, and with characters I couldn't care about. A complete waste of time and resources. I can't imagine why anyone gave this flick high marks unless they were the family and friends of the filmmakers. I would rather watch dustballs grow under a bed rather than have to sit through this mind-numbingly bad flick again. Oh - apparently, this review won't be accepted until I add a few more lines of text, so I'll just add meaningless, boring words until it hits the minimum (kinda like the flick.) Boring, sad, pathetic, waste, mundane, mumbling, soporific, blah, feh, and phooey. Now let me try again.

The movies is about a guy who doesn't feel like working anymore. He probably never wanted to work in the first place. The ultimate bum fantasy! Stop working and maybe spend your time with a decent girl. There is no happy ending to the film - Like a reality TV show! I wanted to see if anything good happens to Main (David) but nothing good happens! At least we got a conclusion to the show. The scene with the Team Pictures had this Sad aura about it - you'll know when see it - Can't remember if there was music adding to the sadness.Overall, The film felt very real. Its the stuff that happens in real life. Watch it if you have the time and don't expect too much from it.6.5 / 10

When I first looked at the ratings for this, they must have been skewed by all the friends and family of these very novice filmmakers. I really can't imagine a film any more boring and pointless than this one. If you don't fall asleep during it, your life must be very dull, indeed (I actually didn't fall asleep, but started doing other things, watching to see if the plot would ever develop and if anything would ever happen. I was surprised by the credits at the end, because really... NOTHING ever came to be. You couldn't make a more boring film if you took any two college drop-outs living together and a cheap video camera and filmed them sporadically for a few days when they were doing nothing much. I really can't imagine a film being done any worse than this one... I think I could describe every scene in this and still not "spoil" it.I think the ratings are telling: there are 9 people (as of now) who gave this loser a '10'. And now 11 who have given it a '1'. I'd say the filmmakers have 9 friends (probably all in this!) Don't bother watching this folks; there's really nothing happening here.
