... View MoreA charmless cash grab of an animated film that retains none of the whimsy to be found in the television series I enjoyed as a child. Characterless voice work, a stupid plot, and a waste of one of the most of iconic children's show villains are just a few of the problems with this crap fest. Sometimes I think the entertainment industry thinks that just because kids are young they can't recognize garbage when they see it, but they deserve quality entertainment just like anybody else. "Smurfs: The Lost Village" isn't it.Grade: D

View MoreStory(short): Realizing that she has no unique ability, like all the other smurfs, Smurfette wants to go on a forbidden trip, to warn who ever she accidentally drawn Gargamels attention on.Pro: It's a roller-coaster of simple slapstick for young audience. And Tenchnicaly well done.Contra: Its pretty clear what smurfiness means: They're peaceful, friendly, individuals named by their capability or attitude. (By the way, they have no Gender, for the Baby-Stork takes care of the offspring's.) So what can a bunch of female moviemakes come up with? How about a second unknown village full of smurfs! Only those smurfs are all aggressive, bow and spear carrying, female, annoying, unsympathetic, wicked and petty. At this point, I was in the mode to rate this movie with a minus 10. Sorry, topic failed, repeat class! You also might think the grey hairy, red hat, opposite to papa smurf, had to be mama smurf. Far off. Its smurfwillow. Once you reached that point, you won't even bother, that the movie score contains unfitting modern pop music. Which appears to be the only good thing about life, as a female smurf. Disco. I can not say this is a bad movie! I can only speak for my self and say: "I will try to forget, that i saw it!"
... View MoreAfter an average reception for the first two films, I did not expect one more in the series. They should have been dropped it, yet the film was not that bad. It was simple and cute, somewhat better than the previous ones. Basically, there's no story, everything was an adventure and the story came out of it. The adventure of four Smurfs to outdo their arch-rival, Gargamel. They were racing to find the secret village, but with different agendas. They had to face many hurdles before getting close to their destination. After that what came was a surprise. Not for us, but the Smurfs, and following, the story ended with the result of the battle that fought. From the director of 'Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarrom' with prominent actors behind the voice-over. Not one of the most expected animation of the year, but some people were, like the kids. The children won't go alone to the theatres, it always has to be with parents/elders/guardians. That is a complicated combination, and the filmmakers has to work on that. Which means making a film that can be enjoyed by them both. So this film is more a children's, but surely some grown ups too can enjoy it. Otherwise, it is a decent film, that's not deserved the poor box office respond it's got. That means, show it to your kids, even if you are not interested in it. That's how it should be!6/10
