This is a movie like Big Hero 6. It is full of fun and wonder, I wish they had done a second. Love it :)

3/16/18. A decent animated Disney movie that kids will probably enjoy. A good time-travel premise makes this a fun watch.

After the last two not-so-good entries in the Disney Animated Classics line-up (Home on the Range and Chicken Little), I wasn't enthusiastic about Meet the Robinsons. However, after watching it, I was pleasantly surprised! It's an interesting story about a young orphaned boy named Lewis, who is an inspiring inventor and meets a mysterious stranger named Wilbur Robinson. He takes Lewis to the future and together they team up to track down the nefarious Bowler Hat Guy, who wants to change the past.Sure, this movie has another sci-fi themed plot. However, what results is more than just cliché sci-fi action. There is actually heart to the movie and well-developed characters, from Lewis yearning to find his birth mother to Wilbur encouraging him to move on and believe in himself to help him save the future. Each member of the Robinson family is eccentric and lovable and the other supporting characters have their own charm - all delivering drama and humor to the film. This film also has plenty of twist and turns and unsuspecting moments, which gives the story some suspense and intriguing moments, and also sends messages about the importance of family, fate and letting go & moving forward. The CGI animation is colorful and detailed (I especially liked the city outline) and the direction is well-paced. The inscription at the end of the movie by Walt Disney is touching, giving this film a spark of that special "Disney touch." The movie is a little too heavy on the sci-fi elements, but overall, it's one of the better Disney animated films from the 2000s.Grade B

The story is actually a very creative and wonderful idea for a show. Pretty much, it's about a kid trying to find a place where he belongs, but keeps getting told he doesn't until going back in time. It pretty much is full of characters but very little actually make a difference in the story line.Wilbur is interesting, almost a opposite of Lewis in some smarts and how easy he is to act a bit crazy… alright, so maybe not opposite. I wish they had talked more about the family characters since they seem really interesting. The Bowler hat guy is rather odd although he was well put together in his reasoning for doing what he does and without Doris, he wouldn't be able to do anything. The animation is perfect and the comedy is so funny! I can't believe some of the funny games that they do. Character designs make them all stand out even if they don't have much of a presence. It is very well done in the textures and modeling although most things look like they were done with nurbs instead of polys. For those that don't know animation, that's when everything has soft edges and look like its squishy all the time. (Ya, I know that makes little sense but just go with it, I'm a 3D artist…) The voices are actually really well done and perfect for what its worth, yet I don't really have anything to compare it to like anime shows. Unfortunately, when its good like this, there really isn't much that I can pick out that isn't good. It just pretty good.
