Surprisingly good TV movie that manages to tell a good story with some taboo subject matter without being exploitative. Bill Bixby plays a widower with a teenage son (Dermot Mulroney) who marries divorced Dee Wallace who has a teenage daughter (Megan Follows). Over time the son and daughter become close and eventually develop romantic feelings for one another. Uh-oh! This doesn't go over well with the parents or Wallace's ex-husband.They don't seem to make quality TV movies anymore like they used to. The cast is great, with the always-reliable Bill Bixby and Dee Wallace doing good work as the conflicted parents who don't know what to do with a situation like this. A young Dermot Mulroney is impressive before he would go onto bigger things. Megan Follows is wonderful. She was my primary childhood crush and I still find her adorable today. Most of her success came when she was younger but she's still working today and still a very good actress. This is not an easy movie to find but, if you're lucky, you can find it online or perhaps on a premium cable channel late at night some time, which is the last time I saw it.
... View MoreIt's hard to believe that it's been 20 years now since this movie came out. I had the movie on VHS for a long time, lost it about 3 years ago, and recently found the movie for sale on the internet. I could watch it over and over. (I *have* watched it over and over.) Each member of the cast was excellent and I cannot imagine the characters being portrayed by anyone else. But, of course, the two main characters were what made the movie. Megan Follows and Dermot Mulroney each did a fabulous job. Mulroney did the part of the "Joe Cool" character, who wasn't really, better than anyone could imagine. And Megan Follows - I haven't seen an actress before or since who can say so much with her eyes! If you haven't seen this movie and you ever get a chance, don't pass it up!
