When I watch a low budget movie, I don't compare it to the same standards that I would to a big budget Hollywood epic. I completely understand the lack of funds, so I don't necessarily have a problem with poor lighting, bad acting (you get what you pay for), etc. What I look for most is story. Is it at least well written? With "Sight", I would have to say yes and no. The storyline is interesting at first (man who can see dead people meets girl that can, too). Only to end up a messy, convoluted mess that at some parts don't make sense. For example: When Jeffrey relays the story of the first time he saw his mother's ghost, he was so scared he trips and impales himself on a wooden stake from a fence (you're left to wonder if that really happened). He has other confusing visions like that throughout the movie too. Jeffrey also sees ghosts everywhere, but doesn't really interact with any of them. His seeing ghosts can almost be considered superfluous to the plot (except for the ending that involved Dana's father). Now I know that in can be argued that the filmmaker's point was to throw red herrings at you to make you think whether or not he was telling the truth about his abilities, are these actual memories, or was he just hallucinating? But they throw so much at you, that after awhile, you just stop caring. And, of course, there was the usual "twist" ending. This movie had a lot of potential, and really could have been an interesting little indie film had it had a few more rewrites and underwent a little more editing.
... View MoreThis movie is psychic. Its not meant to scare you, or amaze with dialogs. Yet it touches you from the depths. Even in the very beginning, they use white screen, that unconsciously attracts your attention. The music, or should i say, sound vibration, were were well put together on the occasions. Even for a psychic movie this was very creepy. It could fit in Horror genre too. Whole movie goes from elements, and they even use flashes to, again, contact your subconscious. It did was overacted, and the camera angles were far from perfect, but the general idea of movie, and the way they put it in does affect you. Im sorry to confess, but this is one of the rare movies that will go deep into my memory. The feelings it left were strong. The ending is left open, once again, letting the watcher to interpretate, therefore creating an ending for his possibility of thinking. This movie is not for everyone. Brain-dead action lovers should skip it, you wont find action here. The ones who do like psychology movies may watch it. Thats the movie for the small, but strong, circle of people, and I'm happy to get into it.8/10. It looses 2 points for the proportions mentioned above.
... View MoreThis movie was not worth watching. As other people have mentioned, the acting is absolutely awful. I'm sure a better cast could have been found by using rejects from film making school. The editing is irritating - quarter second views at different angles of the same object, combined with the irritating audio. The voices are too quiet to hear without turning the volume up, but annoying electronic sounds like phones and alarm clocks ringing practically blow out your speakers. The story does not make sense. One of the first scenes is completely bizarre. I watched this movie with friends who do not speak English. Despite the lack of dialogue in the beginning of the film we both could not figure out what was happening.I recommend not wasting your time with this film. I'm surprised any company even backed this production financially and decided to publish it.This movie is easily the worst I've ever seen.
... View More"Sight" has a very interesting (although not very original) premise. And at first it seems to be about this premise. Jeffrey seems to be able to see ghosts. And of course nobody believes him. When he discovers that this woman Dana also seems to have this sight he is relieved and happy that there is another person like him. Only this encounter has more consequences than he hoped for. At first it is real thrilling to see what is happening to Jeffrey and why it is happening. But soon you will realize that there is not much to the story and that having the sight only plays a very small role in the events that are presented to us. Throughout this movie there are some hints that Jeffrey isn't a complete victim. This fact gets so blown out of proportion that you do expect something wild to happen at the end. The conclusion of "Sight" is disappointing to say the least. Don't be fooled by the title and the cover. It promises a lot. But fails to fulfill that promise.
