Sure this movie covers the basics of the romantic comedy. Two attractive leading actors, two funny sidekicks and plot points that cause barriers to true love etc.But this is irrelevant because all of these are overshadowed by the fact the two main characters appear on screen together for a grand total of 15 minutes. And for the rest of the time when they're on their own THEY'RE BORING!Really the only saving graces for this movie are the performances of Jeremy Piven and Molly Shannon. And even then they don't have a lot to work with.So if you're in the mood for mindless, fluffy nonsense where the characters talk about "fate" and "signs" at nauseam this is the movie for you.

Are you feeling lonely this winter? I am pretty convinced that this corny plot story will get you out those cold-caused goose bumps and make you rethink about why do you still alone. Maybe it isn't meant to be right? Could it be possible to belong to someone's future, even if we don't know him or her yet? Just in Christmas Eve, New York and its lovely well decorated department stores hold thousands of love stories, like the one between Jonathan Trager and Sarah Thomas, complete strangers who meet because of time's requirements and by destiny's caprice. The whole movie is about one character's desire to wait for time to decide, while the other one rejects the idea of being manipulated by some kind of force out of this world, which they will tend to call it, fate, destiny and even fortune in its most grated cases.Serendipity, or, as some people calls it "Happy Accident" means to make a fortunate discovery by accident. That is indeed why this made-for couple which will always stay at fate's wiliness. Also an ice cream flavor, this word represents the message of this film, the attempt to convince us that everything is written and if it is, will happen for sure.Premiered in 2001 this fifteen year old movie is going to definitely heat you up, while you discover at the same time as the characters do, if they are meant to be or not. Up to people with all kind of relationships, or having no one is accepted. Comments on this movie suggest that the light is shown when the magical things start to happen and, it will catch you until the end of the film.

This movie is incredibly terrible yet absolutely lovely. I'm sure most people can agree that this is not the most realistic or even engaging movie but nevertheless there is something magical about it. Everybody wants to secretly believe in fate and soul mates and this movie is overflowing with those sentiments.Aside from the romantic clichés I personally found some of the movie a bit dull and lifeless in parts. It was also extremely hard to find the storyline believable but I managed to overlook it for most of the movie. I didn't hate this movie, in fact I kind of loved it but it's not something I need to watch again anytime soon.

Being a fan of both Beckingsale and Cusack, this 2001 romantic comedy had a good shot of being liked by me. Beckingsale has been in many movies since, but I am not sure she has ever been this impossibly irresistible. While the script does take liberties with the character's at-times strange ideas and actions, she has the type of screen presence and burning magnetism that seem to reach out straight to the viewer's senses. The eyes, face, the accent, and that ebullient spirit! Cusack does what he does best, offering the tiny-bit off-beat, tiny-bit different viewing angle to the character's motives and personality. I am glad Cusack played off Beckingsale, not some pretty boy actor who can't act or bring something special to the chemistry. Yes, the suspension of disbelief needs to be strong in action for the viewer, but despite sometimes unrealistic actions and silly meanderings, this is one of my favorite romantic comedies of all time, and too bad they don't make them like this anymore..
