Not very interesting Indian Cinema this 2017 and this movie make it to the top ten of worst. Kangana Ranaut, though what people say about her found it rude but now i think they are right, including Karan Johar. She was acting so so horribly that is beyond imagination. One or two films did well on block office and here is she is with top actors and big budget movie, but it is one bad made movie. Plot etc are good, Saif Ali Khan charming as ever but Shahid Kapoor too Rambo for World War era. He should have tuned his body a bit low for the role. Not worth to watch, too boring, senseless and without a rhyme.

The film seemed to give the impression of the ingredients to success, and an Indian film about World War Two itself sounds so unique and unheard of that one ends up pinning high hopes on it, but the plot and the story-line falls well below the capable mind and the intelligence of Vishal. The performances were pretty good, no two ways about it, especially of Shahid who looked so handsome and appealing as soldier with that mustache and the physique, and Saif was good (nothing extraordinary as Shahid since he got a very limited role) in his kind of territory of roles, Kangana... Well, she wasn't bad but I'm in general not a huge fan of her acting skills, in particular that shaky voice. But again, the plot fails the film.Although I've my reservations about the subcontinent's soldiers that fought for either sides in that war, but I can understand the admiration and the sense of patriotism attached with those who allied with Germany and Japan back then. This however seemed like a film that Vishal made on kind of force. He's not that kind of a man, his films never revolve around the emotions of nationalism. It seems so coincidental that director Kabir Khan makes a film ('Bajrangi Bhaijaan' 2015) which shows Pakistan in good light, then proceeds to go all patriotic and anti-Pakistan in a film like 'Phantom' (2015), and Vishal makes a film ('Haider' 2014) in which he takes a critical look in the happenings with the people of Kashmir, and then goes all patriotic in a film like this. Strange really! It can happen, we all can have a bad day at the office, but here's hoping that Vishal gets back to his usual best and continues to make the tragedies I so love with passion.Either way, Vishal deserves a tremendous amount of credit for unearthing the actor within Shahid. This man on his own has given Shahid a direction, a type of roles that he now knows that he can pull off. It's down to Vishal that Shahid's performances are now valued in the eyes of the public. Prior to that, Shahid was at best a poor's man Shah Rukh Khan - or at least trying to be!
