There are cult bad movies with a redeeming unintentional feature or two that was entirely unplanned by production, but still hit a cultural point of interest. Entertainment through luck, not planning, but still brushing by the entertainment mark. This movie didn't go *near* reaching that point.Nothing mattered. Incomprehensible meaningless techno-babble, subplots about entirely irrelevant people and events, special effects that started and then objects stuck still in mid air because even the FX renderer gave up mid-scene. Then nothing mattered in the end because deus ex bomb or something. If it later comes out that the production team were given $2.5million and the script was no more than asking the actors to "do some acting stuff" during a weekend bender in front of a camera with the intention of creating something in post once everyone had sobered up, I'd accept that.I can't even tell if there was good or bad acting, I'm unsure what anyone was trying to do.Painful, 1/10

Sometime I wonder what investors and Studio Exec's feel after watching "such products" which I couldn't even truly name movies, just as a sign of basic, humble respect I still hold, within my mind and heart, to a real motion picture! I wonder how badly administrated and chaotic SyFy can be at this point to even accept to show such garbage when there would be instead so many other products with no real distribution, or just so many more talented filmmaker's, writers, actors, and producers to just employ and put to serious work, all folks who would probably work hard both their brains, and their guts, to deliver, even on a shoe string budget, something at least watchable, or stylish, or just made with some sense, and, enthusiasm, the even modest yet admirable result of some innovative or even derivative ideas, that one way or another, would make for some kind of a show, featuring ( and why not?) true acting, a script that you could call at least an effort to make you laugh, or chill, or wonder during one of those cozy, boring, and long rainy afternoon's, maybe even held together by some sort of professional direction! Too much to ask? Apparently, yes! Way too much to ask these days!! Why is this happening? I don't know.. I can sadly tell you that it is all so offensive, detrimental, and even juvenile, it might just be obviously destroying any reputation left to that once golden Hollywood's industry, made mainly of creative, and prepared artisans, crafting always decent, to even very good B movies/ Genre films, that would entertain with wit, with tongue in cheek's subjects, and characters, at times even producing a few unforgettable cult classic's! This seems to me almost like some sort of weird manipulation against true great Genre Cinema, that, believe, it or not, folks, again, it could be so much fun, and so much clever, than such muddled, awfully executed, sinister, and shamefully written, produced, and performed ..Rubbish, such as this one! Please avoid!

It's amazing how they managed to mix up all the technical details in poor attempt to make the movie appear more hi-tech without real need to.First, for some reason they mention that Amiga OS is superior to every other OS, despite the fact that Amiga has been out of business for about 10 years or more. In the same scene, where Ben talks to his brother Terry, he mentions that communications are down and Terry just says "It's OK I rerouted my connection to other DNS server...." that's just....Furthermore when the two scientists use the NSSA computers to calculate the complex mathematical formula, ERROR MEMORY FULL appears on the main display. In the end, when Terry finally manages to get to Houston, he brings his home computer as it was superior to all government machines and when Ben asks was everything OK he answers "They needed VGA cable and I only have DVI" yes and that's his Amiga we are talking about! Seriously is it so hard to find just one man to work on this movie that has some general knowledge about computers? Come on I mean these are pretty basic stuff over here.

Relative to other Skiffy flicks, I'd actually give this a 9. But since that would be a bit misleading I'll just say that the script was more intelligent, and the actors (mostly) better than I expected. The teen-aged son was a particularly nice surprise in terms of how he was written (normal kid) and acted; I'd seriously keep an eye out for that young man to go onto much bigger things. The effects and sets are budget but overall they did a great job with what they had.The cons to the flick have been highlighted by others; more than a few cases of bad casting (one receptionist in particular is painful in the role) and the limited budget made for more telling than showing, unfortunately. But if you've ever wasted time on one of Skiffy's creature features, this will be a considerable improvement.
