Pandemic looks very generic, and it is most of the way through, but it eventually becomes a sneakily good horror flick with a pretty satisfying ending. Basically, If you like horror for the novel kills and shocking chills, this movie may disappoint. But if you like Horror for a haunting ending that makes you think a bit, you may like it... So to be honest, I only watched this movie because I really dig Rachel Nichols, so if you're a fan of hers you won't be disappointed as she was as lovely and watchable as ever here. She and Alfie Allen (who shows off a great American accent in the film) were the movies standout performers.The plot is bare bones: We're following a Doctor, played by Nichols, leading a rag tag team on a hunt for survivors of a pandemic. From there on out the movie descends into zombie movie, or pseudo-zombie movie, tropes all the way through:People doing selfish things immediately followed by people doing stupid things, 'Not Zombies' getting bashed to death followed by humans dying. It's just the same old genre clichés. There's also no one to root for or care about here, not even Ms. Nichols.The movie itself was quality from a production angle (nice cinematography, sfx, makeup, and first person action) but the story was dull and boring, the protagonists selfish and unlikable, doing everything in their power to undermine the cause of saving humanity for their own selfish aims (Not to mention how dumb they were). But as I stated in the opening sentence, this movie totally comes together in the third act, providing a really poetic and fitting ending that I think will satisfy most any horror fan. I really think it's worth a 90 minute investment.

Following a devastating virus being released, members of an Army rescue team descend into a zombie-riddled Los Angeles looking for a previously missing team only to find the overwhelming number of zombies impeding their mission and try to get out alive.This is certainly an interesting and enjoyable zombie effort. Among the better qualities here is the fact that this one actually tries something interesting with the tiredness of a zombie genre film. Done through a found-footage format that introduces the concept of each team member containing a security camera placed on their helmets and then viewing the footage from there gives this a nice solid backbone to work with, and there's also the question as to how exactly the footage was gathered to be found in the first place. This answers that questions as well as why they're still taping during the outbreak which is a common flaw in so many films, and that means this one doesn't have to set that up in order to focus on the thrilling action. That's where this one really scores highly, from the fantastic scenes in the tunnel as they make their way into the city to the frenzied traps set for them inside the city where they get ambushed by the zombies and are forced to battle their way out. The scenes in the school offer plenty of fun as the darkened, deserted hallways and abandoned nature of it all makes for quite a chilling setting for the rather fun, frenzied encounters that's greatly enhanced by the immediacy of the found-footage format. The scenes in the hospital where they get overrun by the creatures and are forced out onto the streets is another big scene, and the enjoyable finale gives this a lot to like. The other big positive here is the standout finale in the house as the creatures overrun them trapped inside and the frantic barricades and brawls to hold them off with the concept really making it work in thrilling fashion. Alongside the nice gore and zombie make-up, these here hold it up over it's few minor flaws. The main issue holding this one back is the rather lame and needless storyline featured here regarding the duplicitous nature of the team. This one could've gone on rather finely without the need for the ruse to even come into play, leaving this one to really become confusing during this time for no reason. Likewise, the other big issue here is the fact that there are way too many distractions and deviations to be found when they're coming upon the closing stretch, from the needless battle with the street gangs to the different groups out harvesting bodies that hold them back by slowing the mission down with needless interludes. These here are what end up holding this one down.Rated R: Graphic Violence and Graphic Language.

If you've seen one of the apoplectic types of films, don't bother with "Pandemic". Nothing new is to be found in this film. The acting is fine, particularly the ex-con driver character named "Wheeler." Watch a George Romero zombie film instead. Too bad about George's death. I bet if he had a dollar for every zombie film ripped off from him, he would have died a multi-billionaire.

Being British my propensity to moan about things is always inwards and never outwards... However after watching this film I went out of my way to sign up to IMDb just to leave a review for this film and warn others that 90 minutes of your life will be lost, pointlessly. To be fair I actually thought the acting wasn't too bad, it was the actual story and plot. It is absolutely pointless. That is the only word I can accurately describe this film, while sticking to IMDb rules ie not swearing...profusely. think of all horror clichés and multiply them by a Googleplex. I was actually insulted that the director thought I was that much of a mug I would buy his plot. I made my bro watch this as I thought it looked OK and I like Alfie Allen. I'll never live it down and should probably do my self in for the pain I caused him. I could go on and on and on but it's making me remember parts of the film and ill need a blowtorch to remove them from my memory. To anyone who thinks "I need to see this film, and see how bad it is"....Don't!!! Tattooing your eyeballs or an*l with a velociraptor would be much more constructive. Thank you to the director...you sir, are a clown!
