Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya is copied right off from the 1969 Hollywood classic, Cactus Flower starring Walter Mathau, Ingrid Bergman and Goldie Hawn. Such a pity. Who would have ever thought that the Bollywood industry would ever stoop down to the lack of new ideas and concepts..... again... Every word for word, they just translated the whole script, thats all. There must surely have been no need to do any character research, no direction notes. David Dhawan must have just watched the necessary scene of cactus flower while shooting for the exact same shot on the sets of Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya. such a pity. I hope the Indian film industry gets some fresh ideas coz its getting too musty to breathe in here.
... View MoreNo seriously, this film was filmed like that. Okay, so you know that Katrina and Salman are dating in real-life, and Sohail (the producer of the film) is his brother. Is it any surprise that they are the main characters? And just look at the beautiful locales they chose to shoot the film and song scenes? It's like they went on vacation in Dubai and decided to cash in on the footage of their time spent there.Anyways, the only good thing about this film is Sushmita Sen. She shimmers, she shines, and glows throughout the entire movie. Her snappy demeanor holds the film together, her costumes as well as her dancing are superb and let's not forget her acting range. She was the only person who acted in the whole film, the rest of the cast were just like lucky losers! If you still need a premise, well, let me just give you a quick one then. Katrina Kaif meets and falls in love with Salman Khan's character but he has a special way of getting rid of girls by telling them that he is married. It's too bad that Katrina, a suicidal Barbie doll type girl wouldn't take no for an answer and she ends up being rescued by Sohail Khan's character (who plays an aspiring actor and next door neighbour) every time Salman upsets her enough to attempt another suicide. One day, Salman comes up with a plan to use his secretary/nurse (played by Sushmita Sen) to pose as his wife in order to ward Katrina off, but instead he gets more than he bargained for in what ensues from the rest of this wannabe slapstick comedy! Much props to Sohail though for realising that when you have a plot as thin as he had with this film, it's wise to saturate the rest of the project with as many catchy song and dance numbers that will help pass the time spent watching this fluff! Just chill, just chill!

But in this case, MPKK is Hilarious, its so funny and well made that its a master piece in the comedy genré.Salman Khan has done a brilliant job again, and does his role to a perfection. Considered he is 40 years old, he is still maintaining his Body full. Salman Bhai you are great and a real role model for many youngsters that we should keep our body fit.Sohail Khan is Brilliant as well, he does not get so much scope, but whenever he enters you will start laughing, he is truly a good hero. The girls Katrina and Susmita is good, But Susmita has more experience in acting and you can see how she steals the picture all the time with her amazing acting. Arshad Warsi its good to see him in movies again, a truly good co-actor.I wont tell you about the story, just that its a must watch movie, and it will sure make you smile.Salman Bhai, keep on the good work we will always support you.
... View MoreI was totally not expecting anything out of this David Dhawan flick, and the film lived up to its expectations... by totally wasting my money and 3 hours. I usually give a lot of props to David Dhawan, since he is probably the only Indian director who ventures with comedy more often than anyone else. Its usually a nice break from all the dramatic movies. But I have to say this was a total disaster. The film is filled with songs... at least 6-7 of them, almost never allowing the movie to ever maintain a flow. The storyline of the movie is pretty decent but a lot more could have been done with it to make the movie a whole lot better. Most of the movie was a drag, specially the second half. Sushmita Sen has done a great job and looks good as always, Salman Khan is getting pretty good at comedy, and Arshad Varsi is hilarious as usual. But barring maybe 25-30 minutes of funny original scenes, the movie is mostly a big waste of time. I would recommend to definitely wait till the DVD is released for watching the film. It might be just a little more enjoyable. It is probably not the WORST David Dhawan flick, but a BAD one.
