Madhouse (2004)I loved the opening scene of this movies, it was very well made, it had some very stranger and it felt very surreal. So the movies had it from the very first scenes and I really enjoyed the rest of the movie. I found the whole movie flowed really well, well it wasn't fast or slow, it was not boring at at I have some part of the movie very creepy and some tense moment in this movies, Which I thought were really good. I really liked how they did the twist, you may see it coming but it done really well and I liked the very last scenes of the movie, The deaths scenes were not that bad but I did not liked the affect some of death scenes were from screen. The acting was really good from the whole cast 8 out of 10

As a pretty experienced Horror fan, I'd say that Madhouse is a nice combination of the Ghost Story sub-genre with psychological thriller about the thin line between reality and fantasy in the mentally insane. The screenplay is rather good, with some Sixth Sense / Fight Club style hints leading to a pretty good, if slightly unoriginal and overdone plot twist. The script, however, simply feels unprofessional. As for acting, take your pick between the at times atrociously bad acting by the main cast (the worst performance I've seen of Horror icon Jordan Ladd) and the profound acting by the supporting cast, mainly the ones playing the mentally insane patients. Direction and cinematography really remind me of Rob Zombie's work, and altogether felt like a nice tribute to 80's horror and contributed much to the few scares. Even the gore scenes are original, featuring some things I personally haven't seen in any torture-porn flick so far (for instance a person being electrocuted till they bite their tongues off). All in all, if you can get passed the script and some of the acting, Madhouse is a compelling story with an interesting and surprising plot, similar to The Ward and Shutter Island, though not as good. While far from being a masterpiece, it's enjoyable enough. I'd say it's worth a shot.

Strong horror and a vivid thriller. Slow boiling suspense and a twist that neither makes or breaks the film. Clark Stevens(Joshua Leonard)is a young psychiatric student that arrives for his internship at Cunnningham Hall Mental Facility. Understaffed, outmoded equipment, building in shambles, patients treated subhuman and a mysteriously uncaring director Dr. Franks(Lance Henriksen). Stevens is hardly settled in and a brutal murder occurs causing him to dig deep in the facility's history to uncover suspected secrets. The mixing is notable and those long dark hallways are pretty creepy. There will be a couple of occasions having you leave your seat, but it is the anxiety of waiting for the horrific violence that brings on a hammering headache. Others in the cast: Natasha Lyonne, Dendrie Taylor, Leslie Jordan and Patrika Darbo.

Maybe is just me. The movie seems fine 90% of it. Great suspense, fine photography (for an horror film), nice deaths not too gory, some classic horror clichés, obligated sex scene, and turn of events. But the end is disappointing. No, it is not unavailable (well, it is to me) but still seems forced, like the producer said "Oh no, we are out of money.¡Caesar, invent something and finish the movie right now!" Any way, it is a fine movie for a weekend. The actors seems fine, but nothing exceptional. Even Lance Henriksen looks a little bored trough the story. I believe the director could work a little more in his subplot.
