I just finished watching Haunter based on the number of good reviews on here (I actually didn't remember seeing any bad reviews) and now I'm really questioning if we all watched the same movie. There was zero character explanation, zero character development which left the story dry. While watching I was left so confused, left with so many unanswered questions. Things would constantly happen without any explanation why. There was no explanation or reasoning for anything that happened in the film. I never write reviews, but this film was the worst I have ever seen. It's not thriller, it's not horror, it's definitely a lot a mystery (not in a good way), it's just straight up BORING.

I wanted to watch a ghostly flick and was not disappointed with "Haunter". A teenage girl tries to reach out to the living to prevent them from bad things to come. I was positively surprised by the acting of the protagonist. Very convincing for her age. The story is interesting and has scary moments. But it doesn't only feed on scares. You get tension and surprise moments. Its not gory though. The setting is limited but that didn't bother too much because it makes sense and doesn't get boring. It got me till the end. One of the best movies of that genre I have watched so far.

Watched This Film This evening and decided it was a film I had not seen or heard of until discovered it sitting on a shelf. I wasn't sure at first when I saw and still not sure what I think of it now. My views of the film are good and bad firstly lets talk about the bad parts. Naming a film after a Pokemon may be a strange title and don't understand why it was given such a name across the whole film didn't feel the name made much sense. The film was very slow at the start and almost sent me asleep why watching this found some of the acting a little off and Abigail could have done better would have been a much better rule and better film if they had found a better actress sorry Abigail. The story reminded me of Groundhog day if it had been a horror film. However, there are some good parts was very impressed by some of the male roles who I feel put on a good feeling to the film as supporting cast members. Why I would say don't go out your way to watch this film. I feel it plays strongly on the creative areas another reason I gave it a 6 rating was the fact a few times it did make me jump this film had some good moments but failed and might have been better if they casted someone other than Abigail Breslan.

Lisa is stuck living the same day over and over. Every day she does the same things, and her parents and brother say the same things, and they eat the same things. Every evening they watch the same episode of "Murder, She Wrote" When Lisa becomes aware that her life is repeating itself, things start to change. There are strange noises coming from the basement, her family, especially her father, alter their behaviour slightly, and a mysterious pale man visits their house and makes unsettling threats. Haunter is a highly effective Horror, Thriller, and Mystery. There is a perfect combination of all three genres in this overlooked gem. It's intelligent and makes the best of it's premise. I love how whenever Lisa discovers something new about her situation, more layers are added to the story. We, the audience, never truly realize what's going on until close to the end, and that uncertainty throughout keeps our interest high. It's a perfect example of what horror should be- creepy, mysterious, atmospheric, and, above all, engrossing. With elements similar to "Groundhog Day", "The Shining", and "The Sixth Sense", Haunter still manages to feel fresh. It's a real pity this film isn't more popular. It deserves to be seen by every fan of the genre.
