Live in Texas is Linkin Park's first live CD/DVD set. And as the title would suggest, it was recorded over two days on their tour with Metallica. The set-list was well chosen and covers most of the best songs from Hybrid Theory and Meteora. And also includes the 'Re-Animated' version of Pushing Me Away, which surprisingly turns out to be the highlight of the set. Chester's singing is great and his screaming is up-to-par with the record for the most part, but in the bridge of Place for My Head, it sounded kind of bad. However, his vocals are near perfect on With You.Brad does his thing well, adding a bit extra here and there, Rob nails his drums, and Pheonix stands there playing his bass and moves around from time totime, but the true standouts of the show are Mr. Hann and Mike Shinoda. Mike's rapping is more aggressive here, he plays guitar on a number of songs, and even sings on a few of them! Mr Hann was easily the standout of Hybrid Theory and Meteora and didn't disappoint here. For the most part the songs are played well, but don't really bring anything extra to the table. Also, the electronica aspect of the LP sound doesn't translate too well live. While this is understandable and somewhat of a let-down, the songs do sound heavier which will appeal to a lot of fans. The crowd singing to Crawling is definitely a highlight of the concert and is true to LP's popularity--even Metallica fans can enjoy and sing along with Linkin Park. That was the most memorable performance of the disc for me.While the overall performance wasn't spectacular, it wasn't bad and will certainly please Linkin Park fans who will have a fun time and will satisfy them for several repeat viewings. One Step Closer has to be the best I've heard it here. Chester's vocals are brilliant and the crowd are really getting into the track. And to surprise the crowd, the bridge from the Re-Animation is added. Which really spices up the song, and makes it an overall better listen than the one on Hybrid Theory. All and all, LP fans will get a kick out of this concert, but it won't do much for the casual listener. But that's exactly the turn-out Linkin Park would have wanted, as they made this for their fans and if you're a fan of their old stuff, what are you waiting for? check this out now!Track list: Don't Stay; Somewhere I Belong; Lying from You; Papercut; Points of Authority; Runaway; Faint; From the Inside; Figure.09; With You; By Myself; P5hing Me A*wy; Numb; Crawling; In the End; A Place for My Head; One Step Closer Track Picks: P5ing Me A*wy; Crawling; One Step Closer
... View MoreIf there is one thing you really have to appreciate is the use of slow motion and high speed cameras used in this. It is amazing and adds an element of concert style never used before. It definitely has a style that adds to the music. Not to mention they play a lot of their hits, and best songs, granted they don't play my all time favorite "Nobody's Listening" but they play the songs everyone knows so when you watch you can even sing along. and it makes it amazing. If your and LP fan this better be in your movie library, but if you like just a few of their songs, they might introduce you to one or tow that you might have overlooked, and would enjoy.
... View MoreMy biggest dream is to go to a Linkin Park concert. But they have only played two shows in Denmark, and that was in Copenhagen for only 300 people, and I live far away from CPH :CSo when my friend had bought the DVD we went to my house to watch it. 10 minutes later we were jumping on the couch, singing along to all the songs.! We were just blown away! It was like we were at the concert! I mean they don't rock FOR the audience, they rock WITH the audience! My favorite track on the DVD is when they perform Papercut! It was done so perfectly! When the concert was over my friend and me was sweating just as much as Chester! (Hehe!) I just love it! I hope they come to Denmark soon!!!
... View MoreI like Linkin PArk. They're one of the few modern bands i actually DO enjoy listening to. So when I saw a copy of Live in Texas, i was more than a little disappointed. If you're a big fan of the band, then the part that you're fans of-the music-is excellent. Sound quality is amazing, and the band sounds excellent live. The combination of all the members fits together exactly like on the CD. However, if you like the music i think you're better off just buying a CD.The video did nothing short of bore me. I would have turned it off if it weren't for the music. The cameraman didn't really seem to know how to do this, as the camera seems to feel its a good idea to stay on the lead singer and only the lead singer. What about the guitarists? The DJ guy? Well, he does get a bit of time. But worst of all was how the lead singer didn't really do anything. He just stood and sang. No on-stage antics or anything. He ran around a little, but that's really the extent. Also was the slow motion effect. I don't mind slow motion...until now. They used it at bad times. It made me wonder what they were thinking. What i found funny was when they were trying to incite a mosh pit. They wanted maybe 30 feet by 30 feet...i think they got 30 people in the end to join. That was probably the best part of this (after the music of course), and was certainly the only part i remember.
