Incredible actually... I saw it when it first came out thinking it's supposed to be Anchorman or StepBrothers etc... it wasn't and I was disappointed... truth is, I was the dork, it's awesome... saw it again the other day with no expectations etc and it was hilariously funny... way, way funnier than I'd remembered, plus I'd seen the actual "land of the lost" show a few times by then giving so many of the inside jokes all the more levity... it's a great film if you know where it's coming from. I see what they went for now, and as far as I'm & my friends are concerned it's a cult hit now.
... View MoreIn this story three people go to a mysterious island called 'The land of lost'. There they meet a caveman called Chaka. They lost the machine to go back to the real world. So their adventure begins when they explore and go on finding the machine. It was funny adventurous movie. I have always seen serious adventurous but this one was good. Everyone watch this movie and especially I suggest people who are sad to watch this movie to laugh.

He's childish and immature in (nearly) every film he's done which while it worked well in Elf really fails here.I was intrigued enough here only because I recall the old television show. Despite how poorly done and cheesy everything about it was, I was hopeful that the movie would be a creative adaptation. Unfortunately this was not the case.We are led to believe that Farrell plays the part of some kind of scientific genius who was made fun of by his peers. Of course, he turns out to be right and builds a device which is able to use tachyon particle to travel thru time. Mind you, the prop used in the film is beyond embarrassing - looking like little more than a computer board and a speaker. And it just gets worse from there.Farrell and two others randomly travel into the past where somehow his female counterpart (Anna Friel) understands the language of some of the natives even though her character's intelligence would be just as useful behind the Clinique counter. The film is all over the place, lacking in plot or direction, devoid of humor, and deserving of razzies and rotten tomatoes. I couldn't even get thru the first hour before I just turned it off.
... View More"Will Ferrell never disappoints" was a previous notion of mine that proved to be false. Land of the Lost, directed by Brad Silberling accomplished the feat of being the first Will Ferrell film I have watched without having sore abs afterward from laughing. This so called "comedy" starring Ferrell as archaeologist Dr. Rick Marshall, lacked the laughs and special effects to hold any degree of my interest. The only times I chuckled during the film were at the crude, sexual remarks occasionally slipped into a scene, usually directed toward Marshall's assistant Holly (Anna Friel). As the two of them and Will (Danny McBride) are time warped into another world run by animated creatures they are faced with strange, unexpected obstacles. This unknown world consistently faces the trio with challenges as they search for Marshall's tachyon amplifier and a portal back to the real world. The noticeably computerized dinosaurs, aliens, and other creatures left a permanently confused wrinkle on my forehead. Several scenes had me questioning if they were meant to look overly fake as a joke. The actors were not blended with the backgrounds, but rather looked like they had been placed in front of the screen with no further editing. In multiple cases, backgrounds and actors failed to preserve the same resolution. Continuously half- blurry and half-high definition scenes distracted away from what was happening on the screen.Until nearly halfway through the film, the plot had no direction. Marshall and his sidekicks roamed aimlessly until an alien from a black hole in yet another unknown world asked Dr. Marshall to retrieve his amplifier from the jungle. Finally, they had a mission. Nothing happened to further advance the plot besides random, unpredictable events, such as an ice cream truck landing in the middle of the desert or hundreds of aliens appearing from the forest. It's as if, while writing the script the writers arrived at a dead end and chose an object from a hat to fall from the sky to liven things up.To add to the nonsensical plot, there was often times mysterious music playing louder than the actors were speaking. In most scenes there was nothing suspenseful about to happen, and it had me questioning if the spooky music was merely on repeat. The constant "dun dun dun dun" was unnecessary and on the verge of annoying. Rather than adding effect, it created confusion as a result of not being able to hear the dialogue. Overall, I was very unimpressed with the quality of this film. The original idea may have had potential with well known actors playing conflicting characters, but somewhere in the making, the ideas went south. Maybe a science fiction lover who thinks Will Ferrell simply strutting around in an archaeologist outfit is humorous would enjoy this movie more than I did. I'm not even sure a science fiction fanatic would have endured this sloppily edited film.
