As a Will Ferrell fan, this absurd movie was entertaining enough. The plot is kind of insane, but there were multiples parts where I laughed until I almost cried. In the end, I'm glad I watched this movie. It had enough twists and turns to keep me interested and had all the elements of classic Will Ferrell and Danny McBride humor.

"Land of the Lost" is a totally cheap Si-Fi comedy movie – and is meant only for the unrefined class of people!PROS of "Land of the Lost"The Dinosaur looks real (but it does not last for too long)CONS of "Land of the Lost"1. Very low-grade comedy 2. Low-grade dialogues 3. Repeated use of the F-word 4. The director is confused about the target audience (kids or the people living in lunatic asylums or is it for the ones living in slums) 5. Implausible events and situations (the actress understands the language of the apes which she had never learned) 6. No sense or logic in the plot

Pompous palaeontologist Rick Marshall (Will Ferrell) makes himself a laughing stock in an interview with Matt Lauer. Three years later, he's approach by Holly Cantrell (Anna Friel) who has been following his research. They go an expedition to a mysterious cave which is run by Will Stanton (Danny McBride) as a roadside attraction. They get sucked into another world. They rescue Chaka who is about to be killed by other primitives. They eventually encounter the Sleestaks and escape to Enik the Altrusian. Enik explains that the evil Zarn is looking to take over the universe.I've got a feeling that people either wanted the old kids TV show or got tired of Will Ferrell. That doesn't stop me from laughing at some really fun gags. Comedies are the easiest to judge and hardest to explain. I laughed at this ridiculous parody. Therefore I judge it to be funny. I can't intellectualize the reason why. It's stupid and funny.

Land of the Lost (2009): Dir: Brad Silberling / Cast: Will Ferrell, Anna Friel, Danny McBride, Jorma Taccone, Matt Lauer: Perhaps the most embarrassing overblown budget of the year. Here is a comedy about seeking adventure as Will Ferrell as a scientist becomes a laughing stock with his time warp theories until he hits one. Premise is rushed but structure delivers monkey people, lizard people, strange crystals and a T-Rex. The only thing missing was the kitchen sink but perhaps it was on lone to a better film. Directed by Brad Silberling who previously made such misfires as Casper and City of Angels. He is backed by horrid visual imagery that wouldn't look any worse than if they had been created by kindergarten students. Ferrell overacts constantly as he struggles to find a way back to reality. Ferrell starts out well with his talk show humiliation but his adventure itself is not explained in terms of the time warp itself. Anna Friel is only there to provide female companionship. Danny McBride tries his best but he is merely a wasted companion. Jorma Taccone is the most embarrassing as Cha-Ka the ape figure. He makes ape sounds and chatter to the point where he ranks as annoying as Jar Jar Binks in The Phantom Menace. Matt Lauer makes an appearance as the unlucky individual who drew the short straw to interview Ferrell in the opening. Not family viewing with its dirty humour but it should be lost permanently. Score: 2 / 10
